They made it easy for me giving up FB when I was seriously considering it. They demanded a photo of an ID. This was 5 years ago though.

Dystopia future: Piss off someone or a company because of your personal values, get a deepfake used against you, everyone knows it's fake, but because society has become corrupt and power positions are essentially untouchable now and being extremely touchy and emotional over your political beliefs (right/left/etc) are practically unavoidable in the mainstream, the judge will just go "Well I feel like this is something you'd do so because the deepfake did it, and it's real enough, I think you could do it too.

That's actually just a black mirror episode disregard that. But yeah photo verification? No thanks. I'll stick to being a social recluse and occasionally surprising my friends with a random appearance on a random account on some random site.

    *raises a G-Shock-clad hand*

Dunno if I'd recommend the newly designed models of G-Shock anymore though. Their design team seems to have their head up their ass lately.

    Facing in or out?
    Link
  • @ Arnox:
Facing out. Facing in is usually the superior option for sure, but if one does even a little desk work, such a position quickly becomes quite annoying.

    I haven't had a wristwatch since I got my Ericsson EH238.

Got a free smartwatch recently. Kinda neat, not that I wear it often though

Why is facing in the superior option? I think it’s dorky

And why not? I just wear a Walmart knock off G shock that suits all my needs

I can already tell the time with my dumbphone, and a wristwatch is bulky and in the way most of the time.

It just allows for easier and more accessible reading of the watch dial if you're doing anything other than desk work such as lifting a big package, or especially, if you're holding a weapon with both hands such as a shotgun or AR15. It also protects the dial more from being damaged.

I tried running one for a while. Just couldn't jive with the constant battery charging requirements. A stock standard LCD watch on the other hand, especially if it's solar powered, will last a LONG time without any maintenance whatsoever. And G-Shocks are indestructible.

I got a relatively THICC watch and honestly, I don't know what you're talking about here. lol

  • @ Vendor-Lazarus:
It snags on clothes and other stuff, as well as put pressure when you're resting your wrists on a surface. So you can't wear it if you do like surgery and programming, or industrial and veterinarian work.

  • @ Houseman:
For surgery, industrial, or veterinarian work, you almost certainly want to remove any jewelry, including watches, as those could be safety hazards in those contexts

  • @ Houseman:
For programming, I just use a wrist rest, which keeps my wrist elevated from the desk. Currently, I'm using a balled up sock
