  • @ Arnox:
When the Dolphin emulator was first released, the former lawsuits against emulation (and how they lost) were still sort of fresh in gaming companies' minds, but now, with a generally toothless government, companies are getting ballsy again with consumer abuse.
  • @ CharlieTheStooge:
    Also true
  • @ CharlieTheStooge:
Some people criticized Yuzu for having a Patreon with rewards but also I do know that in some jurisdictions straightforward donations would be treated differently than with a reward (i.e akin to a online purchase).
  • @ CharlieTheStooge:
The Suyu project has moved to their own self-hosted chat and Git server so it is slightly encouraging seeing them not entirely fold after the Discord and GitLab takedowns. However there is some doubt if anyone actually involved is competent enough for actual emulator development.
  • @ CharlieTheStooge:
I think the next few months will be interesting for certain projects.
  • @ Arnox:
I think the Yuzu codebase and any subsequent projects based on it is pretty much a shut case. Official team are out and there are now other teams managing it. No, what I'm interested in finding out now is if Nintendo or any other companies are going to go after any other emulators besides Yuzu.
  • @ CharlieTheStooge:
I would not entirely call it a shut case at this point. Other projects have faced alleged infringement and gotten forked to a state permitting their public release without the original concerns. Some time ago Google made some noises about YouTube Vanced (patched YouTube APK to allow background playback without ads) and a new team developed and released an on-device binary patcher in response.
  • @ CharlieTheStooge:
About Switch emulation: Ryujinx is still in development and nothing of theirs has been taken-down. So I would not be surprised considering they are already a stable project if more effort is being directed their way. Really the difference between the two is I believe Yuzu and co have higher compatibility and performance due to being programmed in a different way. But like I said how events play out in the near future might be of interest.

Reminds me of Guild Wars 2 where because ANet let their guild system (yes, ironic, I know) stagnate, guild staff are almost forced to shove their members onto their Discord server. Completely breaks immersion and is so damn annoying, but you can't say anything because the in-game guild tools just aren't enough.
  • @ Arnox:
Damn it, @Houseman where are you? >_>
  • @ Houseman:
I gots 'sponsabilities, that means I can never have fun ever again
  • @ Houseman:
  • @ Arnox:
Responsibilities... ? Is that some new game or something?
  • @ Vendor-Lazarus:
It's got dragons and MLP and something for every one of you.
  • @ Vendor-Lazarus:
BTW, I just spent an hour trying to remove a desktop shortcut file that just wouldn't delete!

Did you try turning it off and on again?
  • @ Arnox:
Actually, sometimes, at least with 8.1 and older, it can sometimes not update the desktop properly to reflect changes. Just right-click the desktop and hit Refresh.
  • @ Vendor-Lazarus:
I did all that, and restarted the windows process and went into CMD and recreated a copy of the folder and file, to no avail. I fixed it creating a shortcut of the fake file in its folder, and pasting it onto the nuisance.
  • @ Arnox:
What is the error that returns when you try to delete it?
  • @ Vendor-Lazarus:
I solved it already, as I said, but what it did state was something like "file can't be found" when I tried to delete it. The shortcut existed visibly on the desktop, but not in the users/desktop folder, or in the CMD directory.
  • @ Vendor-Lazarus:
The shortcut pointed to itself (in the desktop folder), and didn't give the location it was supposed to have, in the files properties. Thankfully though, it was very recent and I knew where it was supposed to be pointing to.
