playstation hasn't had backwards compatibility since the early ps3 days. And no, downloading a digital copy of psn doesn't count. If i can't use previous gen discs in current gen consoles, its not backwards compatible. Even the ps5's backwards compatibility is debatable.(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qh2U20VQkg)

An interesting take. Well, his heart is in the right place, and I can see why he wants to take away backwards compatibility as a crutch used by Sony, but ultimately, Sony's (and for that matter, most AAA publishers') problems aren't because of backwards compatibility. They are due to straight up greed and mismanagement. Removing backwards compatibility would not really fix anything. In fact, you would probably just see a lot more unneeded "remasters" as a result of this.
Yes, some ps4 discs can be inserted and allow you to play them on ps5, however you need to download the ps5 version.
