fck me.. I never use emails, and now one of my most used ones has deleted itself due to inactivity. They're not even needed for registrations in reality either.. It's so easy to use a fake or disposable one anyway.

They're not needed, but I left email registration in anyway as it's a nice extra obstacle against people making a horde of spam accounts, and I also think it's just good practice to use a legit email address for any account you'd rather not lose.
