@Arnox You ever visit reddit? Which site version (old, new, sh?), which browser, and how much RAM does it take up for you? Using Pale Moon, old.reddit uses about 600MB RAM, but changing to sh.reddit uses 3600MB RAM. For something that is essentially the same. Now that is useless modern bloating of sites!

Apparently LibreWolf only uses 500 MB for old.reddit.com

Ack. Sorry, my bad. Got a few things wrong with my testing. Old Reddit settled down at 660 MB of RAM but initially spiked to 710 when first loading. New Reddit settled down at around 860 MB of RAM but initially spiked to 1 GB when first loading.

That's really cool, but not necessarily the revival Windows 7 would need to fully come back to life unfortunately. Specifically, there are still no hardware drivers for anything modern, and modern programs and web browsers are also still gonna have major compatibility problems with it, even if you install something like KernelEx.

Pale Moon and Basilisk are modern browsers that support Win 7.

For how long though? In any case, no modern hardware support is just becoming too much of a dealbreaker now. And keep in mind, I say all this as a huge fan of 7 and even Vista somewhat.

Which Linux compatibility program works best for win games now? Wine? Proton? Also, which DE most closely resemble Win XP? EDE? Chicago95?

    I think each
one will work depending on the game. Im not sure about DE but you could test each one out and see.

Even just showing a simple image has become so silly.. Javascript bloat and re-inventing the wheel again and again on top of the previous "inventions". Bloat.

Don't get me started on everything is a RAM or resource hog. Even a "New" Laptop I feel will crash at boot up. I had to turn everything off at boot up since every blot app wanted to get my attention or something.

Use Steam. Run it as a non-Steam game using Proton. That is the quickest method. As to the DE for Windows XP, there's actually a lot of Windows XP lookalike skins for KDE (heaviest but even KDE is still light nowadays), XFCE (middle of the road for features and performance), and even IceWM (lightest but lacking the most features). I'm assuming you want maximum performance, so just use AntiX Linux with the default DE.
