This movie really needed more time in the oven. That becomes incredibly apparent both when watching this movie and also when reading about its production. Hot off the heels of the smash success of Goldeneye and before The World is Not Enough, the studio wanted something out the door to capitalize on the sales of Goldeneye. And that was a mistake. Perhaps the best way to describe this movie is that it's a campy mess. But an enjoyable mess. Not as enjoyable a mess as Resident Evil: Apocalypse. but still, there is definitely some fun to be had. Teri Hatcher should have had much more screentime in this film, but she became pregnant and had to sit this one out for the most part, so I understand.

It must be pointed out though the eerie parallels of how news companies have done their part to fuck with the state of public information. But back then, it was news companies. Today, it's billionaire tech bros and general social media companies. And also the news companies again. Elliot (the main antagonist) in this movie is cartoonishly evil, though who woulda thought that yesterdays cartoons would turn into today's news.

Elliot Carver: Mr. Jones, are we ready to release our new software?
Jones: Yes, sir. As requested, it's full of bugs, which means people will be forced to upgrade for years.
Elliot Carver: Outstanding.

But I believe tomorrow will never die... As long as, you know, humanity's still around.

ANYWAY though. Enough rambling. You won't have the worst time watching this movie, but there are definitely much better James Bond films to watch if that's what you are looking for.
