the internet was a lot better when there was a slight barrier to entry, in that you had to be somewhat technologically skilled to even use and access it. Now any retard with a smartphone can access it and post whatever dumb shit for the other retards to lap up. One thing I appreciate about this site is that it seems like everyone is fairly intelligent.Vendor-Lazarus said:I used to frequent Communities.win everyday, but I got real tired of their Identity Politics. They're "exactly" l. They insist everything is because of a conspiracy of the "white" man, and heavily downvote, abuse, sea-lion, and get generally mad when people point it out. Not to mention inveigling themselves into power positions and punishing/banning .
possibly, but they’d be ripped to shreds in an instant. Like how any conservative opinion on Reddit would be downvoted into oblivionVendor-Lazarus said:Except that the rules will allow the same previously mentioned bad actors (identity politics) from the aforementioned bad places to come in en mass and ruin the place.. Not that I'm advocating for invite-only.
Yeah, see, that's where I'm stumped too.. Not "hate" speech, obviously. Just brainstorming here, but perhaps something extending the Troll rules(s); Blatantly derailing (bringing up their jews and white people and satanists and whatevs constantly and where it's not relevant), Completely nonsensical posts or threads, and perhaps some sort of fallacy conduct?Arnox said:What would you advocate for then?
We already have rules against derailing, and completely nonsensical posts. Logical fallacies are allowed though. You are allowed to be dumb on Sanctuary and we are allowed to make fun of you. :)Vendor-Lazarus said:Yeah, see, that's where I'm stumped too.. Not "hate" speech, obviously. The way we're set up, it's a LOT harder for even a large group to commandeer conversations. And if there's too many of one kind of topic, I make a new sub-forum and shove all the threads of that topic in there until activity in that topic dies down.Vendor-Lazarus said:That only works when the "smart" people are in a majority. If "dumb" people come here in droves and starts attacking the "smart" people, that goes completely out the window.
This is why "the left" don't post here anyway. It's a filtering mechanism. The threat of being called a retard and not being able to cry to the mods keeps a lot of people away, because they can't survive without that.Vendor-Lazarus said:And then the "smart" people leave because of harassment and their points being drowned out.
