The Official Internet Forums List (Beta)

TL;DR - Linus Sebastian is starting to be a real prick. His forum is now deleted from the listings. Wendell's forum is now being considered as a replacement.

-

The Linus Tech Tips forums has been deleted entirely from the forum listings because after the latest WAN show where he started spouting off some more about how great shadowbanning and censorship was (he even tells people they need to "calm down" while shadowbanning someone who was very probably joking)... Just... Fuck this attitude. I'm done. This is ridiculous. There are lines you don't cross, and you're crossing them, Linus, and going full corporate.

I don't care if you have a community of ten people, or ten fucking billion. The same lines apply. The spirit of freedom of speech is the same. It applies to governments and it certainly applies to your community. And yes. You're going to get some Portuguese music in English dumb people. Yes. They may be annoying. Yes, they may circumvent the ban. But guess what? It doesn't matter, and you're being a major hypocrite right now. You and Luke have whined in the past that you want the early days of the internet back. Well, the early days of the internet dictate having a light hand when it comes to moderation.

I already discussed all this extensively on Sanctuary, and I might have posted a YouTube comment echoing the same basic arguments, but it sounds like you don't even want to talk about this, so fine. I'll do exactly what you suggest and go somewhere else, and, in the process, also recommend a site that deserves the traffic far more than yours. Oh, and for the record, making a new Google account is a pain in the ass nowadays unless you're a damn bot farm, so I have no idea what you're talking about when you say, "Oh it's so easy to make another account, bro. They can bypass bans so easily, bro. We have to shadowban, bro."

For a replacement, I'm thinking the Level1Techs forum. Honestly, I should have thought of them and posted them a while ago but it slipped my mind. Well, thank you Linus for helping out with clearing the junk off my list. ^^
As someone who loves forums, it’s a nice reminder that real, unfiltered conversations aren’t limited to big platforms like Discord, Reddit, or Twitter. There will always be those tucked-away, lesser-known places on the internet—like [REDACTED] and this forum—where people can share freely and dive into discussions that don’t always fit in mainstream spaces.

You know, I might actually have let this slide if you explained your post more, but then I saw that link in your quote of my post that's been altered sneakily, and that's one advertisement too many, bro. If you prove you're a human now, I'll give you a bit of leniency. Otherwise, you're getting permabanned as per Rule #5 of the Seven Deadly Sins.

Well we do have a BBS made to work on it and a few custom stuff, with a WIP internet radio that being worked on. Yeah It definitely not on what most people are looking searching for on the daily lol.

Maybe you could ask the site staff to expand the site's focus to retro consoles in general? I think that would be pretty dope.

We do have it laid out for sub forums but truth to be told I feel most people don't stick around only come to get downloads and ISO files. Some stay around for dev stuff and online play.

That's just the nature of hosting files in general. Lot of users just want to get their stuff and leave immediately. And the thing is, you can't really blame them because they're not looking for an entire forum and culture to get immersed in. They just need one little thing. Though, perhaps one could drive more activity to the forums by advertising it on the download pages? Who knows.
