Balalaika has a particularly good quote in the second season of Black Lagoon.
This quote got brought to mind with the massive support of Luigi online, the (supposed) killer of Brian Thompson. Some were saying how much they wished others would do the same with other CEOs. They were always so quick to cover up their utterly apparent bloodlust with "I'm not crazy, but if I was... " or even better, "I don't ever condone murder but... " These quotes to me are just hilarious and self-deceiving. Yes, SuckMyBalls42 (random name I invented), you absolutely do condone some types of killing, but you just don't want to admit it to yourself or perhaps just not to others.
A more generous reading of what these people are saying would instead be, "I can't go out there and kill other CEOs that deserve it, but if I could, I fucking would." But then, is that really what they're saying beneath the surface? Or are they really just wishing what Balalaika was talking about? That someone would do all the work for them? Everyone wants to party, but nobody wants to pay the bill at the end. "Everybody's gangsta until it's time to do gangsta shit." It's hardly a new problem though. It's actually a tale as old as time. Hell, the American revolutionaries of old instituted a draft and had to force certain people to fight for their country. Not personally sure if that was really wise at the time, but there you go.
I guess in the end, this is a question that everyone has to answer for themselves truthfully and honestly. If you really truly want a revolution now, then what are you doing to help that personally? Are you just waiting for someone else to come in and save you and yours, or are you actually willing to pay that bill at the end of it all? Alternatively, if you DON'T want a revolution now, that's something different entirely. This thread isn't really addressing that side of the aisle. As to me personally... I dunno. I don't know if I personally think the time is right for a revolution. To just start going out there and gunning down CEOs willy-nilly. On the other hand though, I wouldn't be surprised if a form of one launched up soon regardless.
And no, mindless rioting sure as fuck doesn't count as "starting a revolution". That's just being a stain on humanity. A true revolutionary attacks ONLY military targets and will never harm innocents.
Justice... I can't think of another word more loved by the people. It does have a nice ring to it... However... Without ever exercising your own strength, you seek the death of others at the hands of someone else. Huh, well... The justice you refer to smells pretty rotten to me.
