Ran into doing this fun shit again, and in the past, you had two choices. Either use Google Cloud backups, which require you to allow Google to see everything, or use a third-party Play Store app with closed source called "SMS Backup and Restore" which, let's be honest, was also probably spying on everything. That was it. If you looked online for alternatives, they'd all say the same shit. "SMS Backup and Restore" or Google Cloud.
Thankfully though, those days are finally over. I was looking around on F-Droid and I found this glorious wonderful FOSS app. "SMS Import / Export". It handles everything. Just install it onto the origin device, have it export everything, then transfer the exported files over to the destination device via PC and then import everything. Done. No spying necessary. Perhaps the only issue with it is that it's rather slow when it comes to SMS/MMS importing. It took about an hour for it to finish importing all the messages for me. After that, the call logs and contacts went extremely quickly since there was not nearly as many of them in comparison.
