This one was a little too out there, even for a Bill & Ted movie. And I know how ridiculous that sounds. Trust me. I get that there's gonna be a lot of zaniness to the Bill & Ted movies as is its trademark, but I don't think it's good policy, even for a movie of this caliber, to go into complete random ass territory without a plan or unifying vision. Some people don't know this, but there actually is an art to being "random" in a creative work and making it look utterly effortless and natural at the same time. It ironically takes skill and hard work. Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure seemed random, but there was a method to the madness, and good writing and memorable actors really pulled it through in the end when it had no right to succeed as much as it did.
The sequel just seems to generally lack that good writing and coherent vision that really shined through with the first movie. Sure, the first movie was certainly no Lord of the Rings, but it's pretty clear that the sequel really could have been better here.
Alright, enough with the comedies. Next up is something more cheerful. The Killing Fields! :)

Getting into some specifics, the beginning starts out mostly good, but then it takes a sharp turn to the left as we depart this mortal coil into the next life. And this is where it really starts to go downhill. We're led through some boring and just straight up odd scenes with the odd funny moment here and there. Once Bill and Ted finally get out of lunaticville and back into normal life, we indeed get back to some sanity. Alright! We're back in the saddle again... While unfortunately bringing with us these two terrible brown bowls of shit that the writers/director decided was a good idea to add to this film for some reason.
But hey... Maybe somehow, this film can still bring it home for an awesome finisher. Somehow. I've been surprised before. And thennnnn... The film kinda rushes to the end with a lame moral at the end. Okay, fine, it's not that lame, but it's a little lame. The quote is, "The best time to be in is now. And the best place to be at is here." Sounds good on paper, but the more you think about it, the more it falls apart. Perhaps it instead should have been. "The only time to be at is now. And the best place to be is to be there for each other."
