As to dumbphones, I honestly don't know why you're getting one unless you're trying to break away from social media. They don't offer any more privacy than smartphones and have incredibly stripped back features.
CellPhones have always been possible to track. Simple tower triangulation. It wasn't a problem when I didn't have my SIM cards registered, but now that's mandatory.. Dumbphones last longer, battery-wise, and mine especially don't have google android. I also don't need to pay any extra for internet when I've already got a desktop computer with it. I don't need more than calls and SMS. Camera would be nice though. The issue is that making calls and SMS are now worse than the way my older dumbphones did it.
Also, there's now absolutely no fallback/backup system in case 4G/5G doesn't work, or gets broken/taken out/technical issues. The entire art of backups seems lost today. Seems they've never heard of not putting all the eggs in a single basket.
Cars have no manual backup system when the electronics go haywire. Can't even roll up/down the window without it. Sites don't offer alternative fallback code for other than chrome. Physical things like money and paying personally (counters, banks, etc) is all being removed for using the smartphone and a Bank ID. One way internet of things monoculture.
Technically, you DID mention the fallback for 4G since, to my knowledge, 5G towers are separate from 4G. Regardless though, if something is really so big that it interferes with a 4G tower, it'll very probably be hitting the 5G too, and vice versa.
heh. I've been getting an annoying overlay pop-up saying I'm experiencing interruptions (when I absolutely don't). At least it's not in the way much, and it goes away after a few seconds.
AMD current GPU drivers require Win 10 21H2 minimum - I somehow managed to install them on 20H2 and everything was fucky wucky for it - was rather concerning

Oooooh... I wouldn't have done that. Generally, my rule of thumb is that one shouldn't use third-party Windows OSes unless they've got a very good reputation.
Yeah, and it's still a major security hazard. Just because one 3rd party variant is good doesn't mean they all are. Also, malware has gotten a whole lot more sneaky these days. Why even take the risk when there are lots of great and reputable trimmed-down third-party Windows OSes?
Your mom's a major security hazard but your dad still went in raw - STDs have gotten a whole lot more sneaky these days - shoulda gone with a reputable trimmed-down third-party
