On censorship and banned books

I work a lot. To help the day go by faster I like to listen to audiobooks. Most of these audiobooks are pirated or are some random guy reading it aloud and recording it through their computer. So this is not ideal but it works.
Anyway, I downloaded the library audiobook app and tried the free trial of audible. I start looking for the kind of books I’m interested in. There’s none. I’m kind of surprised. I mainly read nonfiction. I knew they wouldn’t have some of the edgier books but surely nonfiction would be safe right? So I keep looking. To sum it up, they had none of the books I was currently reading and maybe one or two books I was mildly interested in.
So what does this mean? As we move away from physical media, in all aspects, what are we going to lose? Especially books, there’s maybe one or two companies that will still print books that aren’t kosher, like antelope hill publishing. Even if you don’t agree with the ideals put forth it’s still important to understand them. This may come as a surprise but I’ve read Kapital and the communist manifesto.
In the end it’s just another ploy to make you dumber and uneducated. You know how if you don’t use a muscle it goes away? It’s the same with your brain. Think about how much dumber the public is just because no one can read a map anymore. That whole section of your brain is just not being used.
Anyway, buy physical books and preserve them. Future generations will thank you.

Actually, I think this is just simply publishers wanting you to buy the books and not use library resources. They'll give you any damn book you please, but you better fucking pay for it first, peasant scum.

Most of the books I’m interested in are only available through antelope hill or other alternative publishers. Besides that, I was willing to pay for Audible but the book selection is so shit it’s not worth it. They did have all of cormac mccarthys books to be fair, but outside of that there was nothing that interested me.

Unless you state the author and name of the books in question, we won't be able to help you find ..Alternative book and soundbook sites either.. Just saying.

They've only got 10 audio books - if audible even had 2 I'd be amazed by the selection
Buy digital books and preserve them. Future generations will thank you
I mean physicals, finding audiobooks of anything even slightly edgy is near impossible, but I have my sources.
Anything that’s slightly right wing or anti lgbt will not be published by anyone else, physical or digital.

It’s much easier for me to just say that audiobook apps suck and are built for bored older women. But I was reading a book on the boer wars, checked audible and Libby and neither had it. Libby sucks ass too, you have to “check out” audiobooks.
You’re not gonna find something like the turner diaries through any audiobook app, although there does exist an audiobook version that’s free from the author.

And it has to be an app thingie? You can't just browser the web normally and listen to it where it's available?

I think is point is that, yes, he can find the books elsewhere, they just aren't available as part of certain major apps, and these major apps contribute to a "brain drain" among most people that use them by limiting what they knowledge they have access to.
