A while ago, I did a review of the first three books of Dresden Files and while I was down on it somewhat, I still kinda enjoyed the books. After that, I read all of them and thennnn... Forgot to post a full review of the series. lol So here it is, better late than the Nevernever. Ugh, that was a bad pun.

I gotta tell you all though, I have slowly become a huge fan of Dresden Files. I don't know why exactly, but it just grew and grew on me, and now I can't get enough of this series, from Dresden's endless snark to the Leanansidhe's darkly delightful logic to Karrin Murphy's steadfastness and underdog bravery. All I can tell you for sure is that, as the series progresses, it seems to get better and better and better until you're going through the books at a pace you would never think possible because you're just so eager to find out more about the universe, what happens next, and to see your favorite characters in more situations.

Although the series starts at Storm Front, it's popularly said that series unofficially should start at Grave Peril. An opinion it seems even Jim Butcher, the author, shares. And this brings me to the one issue in the way of Dresden Files for newcomers and the one significant issue with the series in general. The first two or three books are definitely not the best, and the sheer amount of books in the series may seem downright intimidating to people new to the series on top of that. My advice is to not think about any of that and just start going through the books. And it actually shouldn't take long for the beginning books either as they're not that large at all, but if you really want to skip to the third book, that's completely fine too.

Ok, alright. There is one other much smaller issue with the series, and that is that for quite a few books, Jim Butcher will pretend that you're completely new to the series and explain certain things over and over again. The first 5 or so books, it's a bit annoying but whatever. Kinda understandable, but after that, it starts to get old. Chances are, if you're reading book 8, you're pretty clear on how the universe works and who people are and don't need to hear about what the Sight is for the 8th time in a row. But it's easy to skip past the redundant explanations, and hey, maybe there's someone who's crazy and reading book 8 as their introduction to the series or something...

As of this writing, the latest book is Battle Ground. Although I, more or less, enjoyed all the books, here's my ranking for my faves in order of enjoyment.

1. Battle Ground
2. Changes (I could actually make an argument for this being in the number one spot instead.)
3. Ghost Story
4. Cold Days
5. Grave Peril

Honorable Mention: Dead Beat
