I think a lot of people misunderstand this movie and think it's just about some guy who gets OMG superpowerz and has such a kewl life afterwards, and is so kewl he's banging Angelina Jolie and stuff. Makes me wonder if they even finished watching this film...

Wanted is about just happily and readily accepting what you want to hear because it's what you want, and the natural consequences arising from that ready and blind faith and acceptance. It's a movie about what would probably happen if that hero just went right along with the villain's offer of power and belonging. If you let one side lure you in because it's glamorous, then you're not thinking about the other side. You're not wondering why this other guy wants to shoot everyone in your super kewl new club. "I dunno, maybe he's crazy. lol" And what happens when Wesley just blindly accepts what the Fraternity tells him? He gets fucked six ways to Sunday. He loses his job, he becomes a wanted criminal, he loses his apartment, he loses his money, and most damningly of all by far, he loses his own father and girlfriend. He gets utterly bitched out.

Now, one thing you might be able to argue is that this stuff might have happened regardless of whether Wesley started questioning things in the Fraternity or not, and it's possible, certainly, but it would have been far less likely to happen than if he had just accepted the Fraternity's version of events so naively. And by the end of the movie, Wesley has finally seized and taken control of his own life. I mean, it cost him an AWFUL lot to get there, and all of that cost is indeed because of his own stupid choices, but he gets there in the very end.

Even if you can't get behind all of that though, I still think this movie is great for just some dumb gun fun. You can call the action amazing or you can call it utterly moronic, but one thing I don't think you can ever accuse this movie of is being boring. And besides, what the fuck have you done lately anyway?

The movie was fun, but the comic its actually based on is 100 times more insane and fun.
