In this movie's first few minutes, after watching the opening scene, you would be easily forgiven if you said to yourself, "Oh great... Another woke-as-fuck movie about racism. Howwww exciting... Probably gonna find a way to demonize 'white cis hetero scum' too," you would be absolutely forgiven, but this is a movie you kinda have to stick with. I think the main reason why this movie gets away with its message much more than any other "woke" movie though is that it actually... You know, does things right. It doesn't take a side. Everyone's getting dumped on equally here. It doesn't fuck with a pre-existing intellectual property. It makes its own. It doesn't dick around with issues that are, in the end, meaningless or insignificant. It talks about actual issues everyone is facing here.
Now, I'm sure some people are gonna take umbrage with this movie regardless, both on the conservative justice warrior and social justice warrior side, but whatever. Sometimes, people will get mad at you for even glancing in their direction. I also imagine people might call it call it cowardly to not take either extremist side. Those people should also probably try to broaden their minds just a bit and stop viewing the world in black and white. Yes, shades of gray do exist. Amazing, isn't it? Nevertheless, if you do have a problem with this movie, I would actually still be interested in hearing what you have to say about it. I'm probably going to disagree with you, but I'm still open to discussion of course. This is Sanctuary, not Reddit.
