Russ officially quits

Close down the Russ Pitts fan club, it's officially over. Russ finally quits The Escapist.

Timeline:
1. 7/25/2018 Russ Pitts (not his real name) becomes Editor-in-Chief of EscapistMagazine.com, promising to "leave politics at the door"
2. 8/19/2018 ex-Escapist contributor Robert Marks announces a lawsuit against Russ for publicly calling him and others tools of the far-right recruiting regime (nazis)
3. 2/6/2019 Russ is rude to Zoe Quinn on Twitter. Gets dogpiled. Pulls the article that caused the controversy, and replaces it with an apology shortly afterwards, announcing his "sabbatical" from twitter.
4. 5/10/2019 Russ Pitts finally gives up and quits The Escapist entirely, talking openly about his struggles with mental illness.

That last part about the mental illness makes it all clear. Everything Russ did were the actions of a mentally ill man. Closing down GiD, censoring all mention of Gamergate from the forums (except when he writes an article about it), Rehiring MovieBob, calling everybody nazis, all of these things can now be seen for what they are.

Amazing what therapy can do, huh? Cause you to realize that getting so wrapped up in Twitter is unhealthy? Maybe more SJWs should follow his lead and seek professional help.

I have mixed feelings about this. This is both good and bad. It's good that this guy finally woke up and realized that there's more to life than trying to enforce your politics across the internet. It's a bad thing that instead of waking up to it and using his influence to fight against it, he just gives up and quits, but on the other hand, it's better than being a SJW. It's validating in the "this is what you get" sense, where anyone on the side of GG could have told you "SJWs always eat their own", and "never apologize". We knew this would happen, and it did. He got harassed out of the industry not by GG, but by anti-GG. SJWs get people fired, we all knew that. We knew that since dongle-gate.

In the end, he gets no respect from me. It's not even clear he noticed who "the bad guy" really is here. He was fighting for the wrong side all this time, and when he gets stabbed in the back, he just blames himself for being stabbed.

So long and good riddance. Hopefully your understudy will be less mentally ill than you.

As to the Escapist, that place is such a mess, I don't even know where to start.

Kinda hard not to notice how consistently it turns out that people on Mr. Pitts' chosen side of the culture wars - that of The Right Side of History™ - have serious, deep-seated psychological issues.

I have no delusions as to whether he would extend me the same courtesy were our positions reversed, but I hope he finds a better life for himself in the future.

You just inspired me to make a new account and purity spiral him. You are never a good person if you are white or male as far as the left is concerned, and there's always a problematic thing you're doing. You just need some one to point it out. If he can cite some random blog site on how "globalist" is a racist term, I'm sure there's something that can be cited to show how bigoted he is.

OT: I really hope Russ learns something about his crew in all this. Sadly, I'm sure he's too far gone. When I had a crisis of values from what the leftists on The Escapist were telling me, I was able to go over my thoughts and actions and figure out where the flaw was, and after a whole week, I figured out it was the accusations against me, and not my actions or values. Russ won't be so lucky. He's gotten this far without values, and without them, he can only look at the accusations as signs of mistakes he's made. From his perspective, adopting values isn't the solution. It's to apologize for offense when none was given.

Someone like Russ or Kyle...while they might ostensibly actually hold the beliefs they claim to hold, it's not their reasoning for why they are actually engaged in these Subjects. This is High School shit. They are part of a clique, what that clique supposedly stands for doesn't matter, it's not actually about that, it's about a bunch of people who are "outcasts" within larger society for some reason or other grouping up and giving each other support. Problem is, many of those people find themselves otherwise discluded for good reason. I mean...it's not a coincidence that practically every SJW will at some point bring up having a Mental Illness.

Rational people, when confronted with their hypocrisy will either apologize for it, or make excuses for it. I expect Kyle to not even see his hypocrisy when his nose gets rubbed in it. Other people will see him acting like his hypocrisy means nothing. That will look bad on Kyle. Kyle won't care and that will also look bad on Kyle.

No, I'm just saying that you are wrong about that part. Hypocrisy is in-built with these people, it's a function of the Group. So, the blindness to the hypocrisy wouldn't be limited to Kyle, only someone above Kyle on their social Totem Pole (Such as how Zoe was above Russ in the pecking order) can make that happen. THEN they become like piranha, otherwise, they'll just defend the hypocrisy, which isn't weird to them because most of their ideas are hypocritical.
