Downloading. Thanks!

I never had an xbox, or any of the other microsoft consoles, so I never got to play any of the halos, except at other people's houses. I've been hearing a lot about this mod, so now I'll check it out

I'm confess to a certain degree of confusion here. Despite reading and watching some info.

Is this a PC mod to Halo 3 that makes it online?
Based on an online Halo project requested by Microsoft and performed by Russian developers?
Since controllers are allowed, does it "feature" aim-assist?

- Yes.
- It was ordered by Microsoft, yes, but given to Saber Interactive which is an American development studio. The alpha/beta was later released only in Russia for some weird reason. Microsoft later made them cancel the project, but a group of modders picked it up and started working on it for free anyway.
- Yes, but only with controllers. KB+M is full manual like other shooters.

-

BTW, the download link needs to be refreshed. I'll try to do that today.

EDIT: Done.

Thanks for the answers.

As it is a mod for Halo 3, and not a stand-alone project, you would need to Acquire Halo 3 AND the mod?

So if you use a controller on a PC you will have aim-assist and an unfair advantage over KB/M users on the same server?

- You need to acquire the MS23 build of Halo Online posted in the OP (Microsoft doesn't like download links to it anymore but that's too bad) and then download and run the mod updater. You can find all the needed instructions here.

- Actually it's the other way around funnily enough. Also, you're probably overestimating the aim-assist. It's definitely not an aimbot if that's what you're thinking.

OK. Thanks! Confusion ended.

If that's it, then when my cap (24kbps after 20gb/month) has ended ( June 1th ), I'll download it and join in from time to time.
Can't promise the best of pings, but it should be adequate.

I think as long as it's stable, it should be fine.

Whelp, I'm downloading it, hope we can play together some time as I doubt I'll be playing this on my own, I don't dislike Online Shooters in any way shape or form but I don't really like them enough to play with randoms, I do know that playing with friends can be fun so we can try to become friends to make it fun or something.

I mean I don't know most of you well so I don't think I'd call any of you a friend at this moment.

Halo 3 is one of the best multiplayer games I've seen. We'll be glad to have ya! <3 You may want to launch the game up early though and get a feel for the controls, weapons, and vehicles.

I've just finished downloading it and is about to set it up. ^^

Good advice. I don't know how it plays at all. The last Halo I played was the original and CE. I'm also more used to Quake 2 & 3, CoD:UO, Unreal Tournament and UT 2k3 and Counter-Strike before 1.6 and steam. Not counting hybrid shooters.

I've also got to take my age into consideration...for the first time. Since it was a while ago I actively played Shooters.

The cool thing is that, besides the absence of the health system and the addition of equipment and dual-wielding, you can only have played CE, take a break for a long while, then play Halo 3 and still be mostly at home.

Good good.
So the only thing left to experience is if it comes down on the side of 'instant effect' or the 'delayed slightly' side.
The only real difference in those games I listed was the that UT2k3 and halo felt slightly off in comparison to the rest.
Something about the aim not obeying the mouse with the same accuracy.

Go into the Controls and tweak the mouse settings.

Magnet links for Base game & Full game.
Also ElDewrito Updater (Base game turns into Full game).

While I'll allow this, please try to post only direct download links as torrents of MS23 are already so easy to find. Also, torrents are unsafe as anyone can openly see your IP and this allows companies to issue you cease and desists through your ISP.

Thanks. I couldn't find any working direct downloads, nor have the speed or the bandwidth to being able to do so for a continuous stretch. Even finding a working and seeded torrent was hard. There might be others with the same problem I thought.

Not to make this into an argument for or against Direct Download vs Peer to Peer, but torrents only show current IP, which can not only be Dynamic and shared between clients of an ISP but deflected through use of open routers. The data being shared are also not the entire program which only comes together at the very end, for a few seconds, if you only leech. It's the seeders that run the risks. Moreover, torrent data can also be hidden through use of VPN's... While a direct download IP may be harder to find initially, the entire program is there and the IP is clear. It's the reason why the likes of Kazaa faded when Torrents showed up.
