These games are NEVER fucking on sale, so if you were holding out on buying either of these, now's the time. If you wanna get GW, get the Trilogy and then Eye of the North. That's all you need.

Earth Defense Force 4.1 is also on a huge sale as well at 60% off. Best you'd usually get is like 25%. Get that for some sweet ass co-op action.

That would be pretty interesting actually. The nice thing about GW is that the campaign's easy with friends and still really interesting and you can play it competently with one hand if you like. It's a very elegant and efficient and yet really fun and deep MMO. One of the best MMOs ever made actually.

Just don't expect it to be nearly as alive or have nearly as many features as GW2 though.

tell me about it. It's the only MMO I've allowed myself to play. The lack of a subscription fee is what sold me, but it was a very competent game too.

I've never played Guild Wars.

I have played Lord of the Rings Online (Free), World of Warcraft (Private server), Star Trek Online (Free), Drakensang (Free) and Spiral Knights (if that counts).

How does it compare?

I'll also recommend everyone try out Distant Worlds - Universe!

Gw came out as a free of subscription fees game, before full f2p games were a common thing. It plays with everyone online ending up in the cities, but all adventures are instanced. You only take the people with you that you wanted. So you'll never bump into another random player while adventuring.

I don't buy games often, in fact I haven't bought anything all year, but if you guys really do want to try this multiplayer revival thing I'd be willing to give it a try, so I need an honest answer before I decide to invest $7.00 on this.

What time zone are you in? If it's close to mine, then I'll play GW with you. We are talking about GW1, not GW2, correct?

Um... You CAN get vanilla GW but you probably should just bite the bullet and at least get the Trilogy while it's cheap.
