Are companies being worse than usual?

It really feels like they've been more awful than usual. Ubi banned xp boost quests, Activision retroactively added microtransactions, rockstar added a casino with gambling, 2k/gearbox have been targeting a borderlands YouTuber, Bethesda required beth.net logins for doom and whilst not a aaa company, the ooblets devs (and epic to a small degree) handled their exclusivity deal kinda terribly.
IDK, to me it feels like they're trying to see how much they can get away with before facing backlash whilst also not really caring about the customer

I agree. There is a general trend among devs that is ever increasing. Which only cares for money above all. The small, indie and mobile, devs that do so has been become visible in the last few years, but larger ones have been at it for far longer.

I blame console and mobile games mostly. The factional fanboy and the casual player. Even PC have had it's share of those (which have also increased over time) with it's competitive multiplayer games that's "hot and trending".

Cross-platform gaming have also lowered the quality of games, which have made it easier for those types of players to increase.

Yes, they have BUT I don't focus on them too much anymore. I'm proud to say I haven't given a single dime to EA, Ubisoft, Activision, Epic, or Bethesda in many years.

These Companies are being so aggressive that they are basically begging to be reigned in by the Law, which will more likely then not be worse for them then what a little restraint would have resulted in.
