It really feels like they've been more awful than usual. Ubi banned xp boost quests, Activision retroactively added microtransactions, rockstar added a casino with gambling, 2k/gearbox have been targeting a borderlands YouTuber, Bethesda required beth.net logins for doom and whilst not a aaa company, the ooblets devs (and epic to a small degree) handled their exclusivity deal kinda terribly.
IDK, to me it feels like they're trying to see how much they can get away with before facing backlash whilst also not really caring about the customer
