Hello folx, this account is piloted by the memories and experiences of the internet itself, for I have given up my identity, my role in society, my existence itself to instead become part of the "Matrix". I make my home in between the cracks in the machine that society would prefer look like a woman in a red dress, or a sunny day, or a big number in a bank account.

I live in the mud, I eat worms and sleep in dirt, I fall in love with shadows and illusions, and I am happier than any of you. For I have destroyed my brain, my mind, my body and soul to such a degree that my ego takes on the form of a computer virus, I am corrupt, not evil though. I believe in the forces of goodness, laizze fairee. I hate scamming and rip off con artists, I stand for truth and honesty. My values are science, art, industry and trade.

I also like to play Minecraft where I travel to various servers and spread my truths that I hold self evident. I play 1.8.9 , 1.12.2 , 1.19.4 and am not so eagerly awaiting the most recent update which should be out today or tomorrow I think.

Whoever you are I believe you are blessed if you can read this message, it's like a digital aura. I don't know what lead you on the path to be on this website at this time, or how you got here and your background and experiences but I earnestly believe in the forces of fate and destiny and things beyond understanding of the human brain, great concepts we are not ready to accept that exist out in the universe. I hope to become strong enough mentally and physically to handle anything reality has to throw my way. Existence is fleeting, make the biggest bang you can, at least.

Namaste, people of this solar system. Let us manufacture industrial amounts of LSD and give it out for free!

That was definitely one of the most entertaining introductions we've seen around here in a while. I do remember though that you were around here before but became inactive for a bit. Welcome back!

Out of curiosity, what do you think of our Minecraft server?

I haven't checked out your server yet, are y'all sticking with the current versions of MC? Most of the servers I play seem to be halted on 1.19.4 I think for performance issues, but smaller servers should probably be fine.

I have been aware of your forum since like 2014, I sorta gave up on forums looooong ago and spent years only posting on 4chan and stuff, I was never a fan of being tied to accounts/names as I usually lose access to my emails, but my life is undergoing unprecedented stability, so my previous lifestyle of vanishing from online communities with no trace, because I lost my phone/computer/email or whatever is no more.

I think the "medium" of forums like this no matter the topic are kind of an outdated concept, yet social media which was supposed to "replace" all this has not grown to become that, but instead something else entirely. Forums to me feel like something that fills a need for a world that no longer exists.

There really is no reason to post on any forums, everyone should just use social media or like mastodon decentralized something even, I mean back in the day all you had was an email, maybe a webpage. TOTSE I think plays an interesting history in this, along with the concept of BBS themself, I think I mentioned those last time I was here. I really am starting to think it might be superior to forum software like Xenforo or vbulletin

BBS also looks cool like late 90s digimon type hacker vibes

A pure BBS as you're talking about has two big advantages. For one, the damn thing could be hosted on a fucking 1900s typewriter and have only a piece of twine as the connection. The software is also, to my knowledge, very secure due to its incredible simplicity. But that's it. That's all it has going for it. In every other way, even early 2000s forum software just completely blows it out of the water.

Whoops. Forgot to reply to this. At this time, we're running 1.19.3 as stable. I suppose we could update to 1.19.4, but I just don't see the point really, and it's kind of a pain in the ass to do any mainline update to Minecraft as we're running a fair few backend mods, and they ALL need to be compatible with 1.19.4.

I also have a full cracked copy of 1.12.2 saved into my archives as well.

There is a BBS hosted in my neighborhood and it's one of the oldest longest surviving BBS, I found it looking at the global map of all of them on FIDOnet, it's in the basement of a comic store and has just been sitting there running on this old PC since the 90s lol. The people that are into BBS software seriously are more in it for the nostalgia, they like to use the oldest hardware possible and keep it all the same as it was, like a time capsule. But they have kept up with the times, I wouldn't call it obsolete yet. I was checking out the BBS subReddit and this guy has a point

If you are β€œon the fence” about running a bbs - or if you have questions about which between the three you mentioned then perhaps it would be better if you not run a BBS at all. You can make the three pieces of software you mentioned look absolutely the same to the caller with a little effort - and it IS the user you are thinking about when you sit on that fence thinking about running one right? Additionally, what does a server rack have to do with running a BBS? A lot of people run them and run them well on a Raspberry Pi .. I’ve been calling BBS’s since 1980, and while yes - there were a few times in the mid-late 80’s and up to 1993 or so where there might have been a need for 25 lines, there will never EVER be that need again thanks to the internet. 3 lines will likely still only keep you 33.3 percent connected and even then that single connection will be few and far between.
also this discussion I think is interesting, it's about user privacy and online culture, some things never change I guess.

It could maybe be used alongside current other p2p routing networks like tor, which if combined with mesh networking and being able to connect through radio or something than it would defeat the need to rely on ISP's beholden to government regulations, I was thinking this would be a better alternative to how the darknet markets operate, having to find new markets but the same vendors PGP verified says to me the weak point is TOR.

I think the process of using the internet by having an active connection to a server where you are loading data from is not ideal, all of the benefits of web 2.0 like dynamic web pages, streaming, embedding, etc have not really gone on to revolutionize technology but instead are used to make the internet worse having a constantly GOOGLE alphabet ads and god knows what under the hood. I use an old computer and it sucks because it slows down on a lot of webpages, or when an ad plays. That's the limitation.

I guess I should buy a new phone and a new computer so they can advertise to me without delay, and play a bunch of DRM infested video games and not be able to load Steam on Windows 7 offline.

I think doors and portals are an interesting concept in these trying times.

From the 1990s on, most BBS software had the capability to "drop to" doors. Several standards were developed for passing connection and user information to doors; this was usually done with "dropfiles", small binary or text files dropped into known locations in the BBS's file system. Most doors were responsible for operating the serial port or other communications device directly until returning control to the BBS. Later development of FOSSIL drivers have allowed both BBSes and their doors to communicate without being responsible for direct operation of the communications hardware.

I'm not a networking or programmer guy so maybe i'm just insane but yeah the state of the modern internet really throws me for a loop sometimes

alright cool, I have all the "good" versions installed.
I haven't played survival minecraft in months and months, maybe over a year at this point. I'm too busy destroying the economy in this stupid server gamemode, it's a runescape clone type game so it's very addicting I CAN'T STOP

I find it really damn cool how insanely modifiable Minecraft Java Edition is, but at the same time, I'm also a little upset by seemingly how damn rare just plain vanilla servers are. It seems when I check out Minecraft servers, they're also something along the lines of, "SUPER SKYBLOCK JAIL POKEMON SERVER INFINITE XP OMG".

I built this farm for noobs with random players on endcrystal.me and this asshat youtuber greifer wrecked it.

I'm glad my build made it to a video though, good times. That location is a giant crater now because we kept rebuilding it, he kept coming back and putting down withers.
