In this day and age, we now have AI running over everything, and more and more things are becoming able to be generated by such. This creates very understandable suspicion with sources. But what if you recorded a video of something with an old-school VHS camcorder? Now you may say, "Oh, you can just down-convert digital video taken by any smartphone or generated by any PC into VHS video, so it doesn't matter, and this is true, but is it going to match the actual way that VHS camcorders record? Perhaps there's some specialized filter in a video editor you can use that mimics all the artifacts and imperfections that the old VHS camcorders introduce into a recording, but I doubt it could fully emulate everything unique to them.

Still though, I have no idea. This is just something I thought of.

Keeping copies of media for yourself is the important thing, and not relying on streaming services for your entertainment. I have my 30TB server for exactly that reason.

did i miss something? whats the advantage?
You wanna record something and make sure someone can't claim it's AI generated. You make a recording with a VHS camcorder due to the fact that the camcorder and the tape the camcorder uses introduces unique artifacts and distortions specific to them. Or so the theory goes.
