Boston Mayor maintained list of political opponents for police investigation

Apparently the mayor, Michelle Wu, sent the police a list of people who had repeatedly protested against her outside of her home. It is unclear if the mayors office pushed this onto the police, or if the police requested the list. Both seem to be pointing fingers at each other, although I am more inclined to believe the former rather than the later. Not the first time that city police departments have been used to prop up the power structure of those running them. Not sure I buy the take in the second article considering the list of names included people actively running for office who criticized her.
