Quick very unrelated side-note, I love how Pale Moon's interface looks way better than Firefox's terrible modern flat design.

The even better part is how it's so customizable. You can put the tabs on top, re.organize or remove the status and menu bar for even more space (even the address bar), with just a click of a button. Two clicks(-ish) and you can chose any Theme you want (https://addons.palemoon.org/themes/), or make your own. As well as add a Persona (https://addons.palemoon.org/personas/). If you've got the time, and/or have used FF, you can also get into CSS (https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/stylem/) rather easily with an addon. And since XUL addons are integrated with the browser much deeper than simple script-based web extensions (which is more akin to greasemonkey scripts) you can also change the look and layout almost entirely (https://addons.palemoon.org/extensions/appearance/).

So can denying your sexual urges, see?!?!?! This is also the 'justification' they use for all kinds of normalized fetishes and LGBT stuff. They say people should be able to do anything they want or else you're dehumanizing and literally killing them.

If you start drawing lines around "you should just deal with this kind of suffering, but nobody should be force to tolerate this other suffering" then I imagine you will at least be making a lot of people very upset.

No, I can't see. C'mon, Houseman. Now, I'm not going to sit here and pretend that such sexual urges aren't debilitating, because they definitely are in a fair few ways. No doubt about it. But they can be worked around. Medicated. It's a hard road, but it is a road. A possible way to live.

Major chronic pain that you can't really do much about... How can you tell me that that is in the same league as pedophilia? And in any case, even if you were absolutely right that it was on the same level as major chronic pain, there are still the other scenarios that I mentioned above. And also, if these kinds of urges are really sooo strong that you can't live a life ignoring them and nothing else works, then... Maybe that is another case for suicide.

If someone is so utterly messed up inside that they absolutely 100% need to kill people or torture them or molest them, then they cannot live within the Social Contract on even the most basic level. And if they cannot live within that, then they cannot live in any kind of civilized society. And if they cannot live in society, then for everyone's sake, (yes, even including their own sake) they cannot be allowed to live.

My friend committed suicide after unsuccessfully dealing with a rare and as-of-yet untreatable COVID-caused disease where he felt tremors in his body in all hours of the day and could not sleep. I don't begrudge him for it.

I want you to know that I've been thinking about suicide a lot this year and this thread always comes to mind. Now I've just lost my job and want to stop living more than ever, but it's difficult to justify hurting my family like that. Very much not recommended. As said in the OP, this is a one-way ticket. Why end it so early? What use is that to anyone? Might as well continue on and see how it goes. You can commit suicide any damn time you like, so there's really no reason not to put it off.

Ok, but Gaijin, we're not rating threads. All Info threads are based on fully objective criteria that has nothing to do with whether an Info thread is "good" or not. That's entirely up to the reader to decide.

As to the actual thread content, yeah, this is a horse that's been pretty well beaten to death now, but I'm still always willing to talk. I mean, Houseman did convince me not too long ago to remove the list of DOGE members we had here earlier.

Ohhhhhhh, I see. Alright. Well, normally, if this was a list of opinion then I would absolutely agree, but methods are fully shown and explained along with possible effects of each method discussed, and even were that not the case, I think there is still high objectivity to this tiering due to several factors involving the methods talked about.
