Actually, I did get some valuable input about the sub-forums, so it wasn't a total waste of time.Well you only got a single guy guy to ask why he should come here at all and a moderator bot giving shit about you not qualifying for an AMA. Baby steps I guess.
This was the reply they gave as to why:I didn't get a chance to ask anything before it was locked!
This was my response, but they didn't really say anything significant after that. The simple, blunt fact of the matter is that sites like the one you're attempting to hold an AMA about are a dime a dozen. It has received no meaningful media attention, and at the moment, it appears to be little more than a side project for a couple of otherwise-employed people.AMAs should NOT be about:
- Common topics.
- Your experiences on the internet.
- Something you plan to do.
If we allowed your AMA, we'd have to allow AMAs from all of the hundreds of other such people who attempt to promote similar projects.
Your AMA will not be approved. We encourage you to try /r/CasualIAmA instead.
Thank you for the answer as to the problem of the AMA and I do appreciate the honesty.
At this point, I'm not really concerned with getting the thread re-added to the thread list, but I would simply like to clear up some points here that are mistaken.
None of these three match what Sanctuary is at all. Sanctuary is not a topic itself, and it is a site where anyone can post threads that cover quite literally any subject the user can think of from the incredibly common to the exotic and dangerous. Sanctuary is also not my "experience" of something. Again, it is a site. And finally, Sanctuary is not something that is planned. It is finished and ready to go. v1.0 and above of Sanctuary have long since been out.
- Common topics.
- Your experiences on the internet.
- Something you plan to do.
I absolutely agree that there are thousands of forums out there on the internet, but there are zero forums like Sanctuary, and if there were, I would not have started the site that I have. Even further, there will (sadly) probably NEVER be a site like Sanctuary if I had never founded it. You can find 500 different forums to talk about snowboards. You can find 1,000 different forums to talk about games. You can even find many forums discussing recreational drugs. But there are ZERO forums that have freedom of speech front and center and allow users to discuss any topic with the express knowledge that there will be no reprisal nor will there ever be (as long as they follow the minimal rules) much less a forum that both utilizes proprietary best-in-class software and supports full freedom of speech like we do.The simple, blunt fact of the matter is that sites like the one you're attempting to hold an AMA about are a dime a dozen.
So, in summary, while it is very true we have not received significant attention, there is nothing "common" about Sanctuary and what it strives to do. Quite to the contrary, Sanctuary is the last bastion of an almost dead breed of website that popular social media is on the verge of destroying. We are the only ones left.
I would love to hear your guys' thoughts on all this.
Nah, this was all through PMs.That's a lot of text to answer to what was probably a moderator bot who can't even respond.
