FTC Reinstates Net Neutrality, Bans Non-Compete Clauses

When I wrote this, I thought it was pretty clear I did not literally think the FTC imposing controlling direction of Apple Computer's business property was a free speech issue. Please re-read my comment with the added information that I was employing a metaphor and reply again.

FTC Reinstates Net Neutrality, Bans Non-Compete Clauses

Lol. "I support your freedom of speech, I just think your forum needs to be broken up because reasons that totally aren't just suppressing your speech!" Lmao, even.

FTC Reinstates Net Neutrality, Bans Non-Compete Clauses

It'd probably be faster to list the things that aren't wrong with it. TLDR: It's Apple's systems and services. They can make them however they want, and I can respond by buying however many of them I want. Trying to keep them alive by changing their services to however you think will work best...

FTC Reinstates Net Neutrality, Bans Non-Compete Clauses

Of course not. Why would I support bad law, just because I dislike the target this time? The harm of serving as precedent against morally superior future targets vastly outweighs the emotional satisfaction of arbitrary punishment against an enemy in the moment.

FTC Reinstates Net Neutrality, Bans Non-Compete Clauses

    >Now I'm curious as to how the monopoly case against Apple is going to go. Hopefully Apple will be torn a new one. Anyone who supports this nonsense needs to be airlifted to Europe, where there are no major hardware manufacturers, for at least a decade. Put their money where their mouth is. The...

A Quick Interview with Laura Fryer, Industry Veteran at Xbox

It can vary a lot depending on organization and office politics, but when done right good producers are essential to coordinating the skills and time of a large and varied pool of experts so resources aren't wasted and the pieces of the project come together without friction and they can focus...

Possible Cheating in Quake 3 Arena Speedrun

I didn't see anything too unusual. Working the spawns is a part of the game, and quake trains a careful, precise aim that can look strange if you're used to other shooters. As for his expression, that's how Raisy pretty much always is: https://youtu.be/_hLt8KjGTO4

Court Protects Personal Information Requested by Media Companies

Doesn't the article say the court granted at least one of the requests? Seems less like a ruling victory and more like an untelated question of some requests not meeting the evidence standard. This was a California federal court decision anyway, and the case is in New Jersey. No theoretical...

    The Official Congressional Blacklist

I don't think you understand my commitment to solving it. I want to be the prairie doctor, taking off a limb with a hacksaw to stop gangrene. I'm confused by this phrasing. Have you been trying to say the fed would love a cbdc, but shouldn't morally? Cuz yeah, that's what a "congressional...

The Current Deplorable State of Smartphones in 2023

Hard disagree. Ease-of-use and power don't have to be a trade-off, and aren't in engineering with higher standards. Phones are like this because the average joe doesn't want power, or more specifically doesn't know to want power, but that can be changed. Maybe not by one person, but it can happen.

    The Official Congressional Blacklist

Not really. I find it quite enjoyable to support business I like over business I don't. Huh? What would a central bank find disagreeable about a centralized currency? Especially with the backing of law to monopolize it.

The Current Deplorable State of Smartphones in 2023

I got a Samsung (TM) Galaxy (TM) Core (TM) 2 (TM) a couple months after it came out, and have fond memories of its OS simplicity and shape that was designed to be held by a human hand. Looks like it was released a couple weeks after the S5.

    The Official Congressional Blacklist

No, I'll vote with my feet and use the ones that don't. Thus why it's a problem that the gov looks to be gearing up to not let any of them choose to compete for my business by not requiring info I don't want to give.

Of course Mittens is behind this garbage. No wonder the glowies tried to unseat Lee last cycle. They wanted another instrument of panic. Lee asked a few too many questions at ie the chokepoint hearings.

Cinema Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) - Very Predictable but Good

I don't see many movies, but puss in boots was my least predictable movie in some time. I predicted any emotional tension or serious stakes would be constantly undercut by mediocre jokes, and was blown away when the shrekspawn merchandising vehicle about an animated anthropomorphic cat and...

Starting Over: A FOSS proposal for a new type of OS for a new type of computer -Liam Proven

That would be cool, but to my understanding it's not even clear if such processors will work at this point. Only a lot of research dollars from a very rich company or VC can really change that. (And people wonder why Intel's always begging for handouts...) That's what I like most about this...
