I'm sure you've all seen some weird products in the past, but what about weird packaging? Things that make the product unappealing, or are contrary to the use of the product.

I know I have a favorite to share, but I want to see what a few of you can show me before I drop this one on you. Hopefully I'm not talking it up too much.

Recently I bought some Sony earbuds. Packaging was so obtuse that I decided to just go for the direct approach. Took out the scissors. Started cutting. Thought I was clear of the wires.

I wasn't clear of the wires.

I ended up cutting my earbud cords right in half. Was a bit embarrassing having to drive all the way back to Best Buy and return them for another pair.

Well, that's not what I was looking for in this thread, but it absolutely counts!

Don't feel too bad about it. You're not the only one that's done that. I got plenty of returns like that when I worked at Fred Meyer.

I meant something like this an an example:

Ok, I'm home and no one came up with any funny answers. Here's my real answer.

I laughed way more than I should have.

OT: Blister packaging. Fuck anything that was ever put in a blister pack. Should be called "lacerating" packaging seeing as all it takes is one slip in the blink of an eye to expose white meat and sometimes bone on an overly enthusiastic package opener.

This. Especially those for electronics, because they tend to have plastic so tough it feels like you need a bolt cutter to get through it. So you just cut off enough so that you can continue prying/tearing it open by hand (and yes, frequently hurt your hands doing so), but then you need to apply so much force that it'll invariably burst open and the contents fly everywhere.

Also, more packaging fails:

Never mind, for some reason that image seems to break the site

PM me the image source.

Sorry, bad choice of words on my part (light years away from sober)

It breaks the image, then clicking on it gives a 502 error, it doesn't break the site lol

The forum is warning me this could be necro posting, but I think it fits the topic
