Wolfenstein 2: The New Colosus

Hey everyone!

So, has anyone played Wolfenstein 2? I'm considering getting it for my Switch....but I also need new JoyCons and the list of Games I like to get in the next few Months keeps growing. Diablo 3 is coming, which I never got due to the always online stuff on PC. I'm missing a Party Game and Super Mario party is just Days away not to mention Smash Bros Ultimate or DBZ Fighterz. This is compounded by my PC being broken and really I'm gonna have to build a new one from scratch, perhaps foregoing Hard Drives at best.

I already have Doom...which I liked, but isn't necessarily my type of Shooter (I don't really like Bullet Sponge enemies and the game was full of those), Wolfenstein coming from the same Publisher (and maybe I'm wrong, but what few Videos I've seen give off a similar vibe) kinda has me concerned that, while I'll certainly enjoy the experience, that I may regret spending what it costs.

And as mentioned I also need JoyCons which in and of themselves are going to set me back 70€. Bow make jo mistake, over short or long, I'll likely be getting.most of the Games I mentioned....I'm just wondering if Wolfenstein is worth getting at all and if I should perhaps even wait a bit before I do. Otherwise I'd probably be getting it on Saturday.

So, did anyone play it? Is it fun? How about gameplay variety? And how long did you guys take to beat it? I heard reviewers bringing up roughly 10 Hours...but reviewers tend to be terrible at actually playing, so I can't take that overly seriously.

I've got it, I thought it was alright. Its been awhile since i played, so i can't really remember if the enemies were bullet sponges. I do remember the last two bosses being really spongy though. You do get some neat side missions, where you go back to previous maps and hunt down high ranking nazis. If you played the first and thought nazis on the moon was ridiculous, well they're on venus too. Not sure how much it is where you live, But its $90 where I live, so i'd probably say get something else, or maybe wait till its on sale.

Amazon has it for 50, but realistically, I'd probably be getting it in a Store where it would likely be 70. I didn't play the first. Last Wolfenstein Game Iplayed was Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I'm cool with wacky stufft though. Doom just got kinda boring because killing sponge enemies doesn't really require skill so much as patience.

I never played it myself, but I know it got a mixed reception. If you're out of games to play, maybe it will be worth getting it but it sounds like you should wait for a sale and play something else in the meantime.

I'm totally out of Games, played all the ones I have to death (I've played Breath of the Wild 4 Times, Skyrim way more then I can even remember and Mario Odessey is kinda short) and could go for a Shooter. I'm also not really aware of any other options for the Switch. I mean, I'd probably prefer a Fallout, but sadly, that isn't availible.

Do you like Metriodvania? I just played Hollowknight (PC version) and it was pretty spectacular. If you like Super Metroid, you won't go wrong.

I've never actually played either a Metroid or a Castlevania. They always look pretty neat, but for the Time being I'm trying to avoid Download Titles, my Brother just got a Switch so we want to be able to trade Games. Hollowknight is connected to Shovelknight, right? I'll keep your suggestion in mind though.

You may be missing out.

Shovel knight has nothing related to hollow knight. Shovel Knight is Mega Man (with some other retro influences) while Hollow Knight is Super Metriod.

Haven't played it but I saw a whole playthrough of it after several people told me it was shit.

Two main gripes with it that keep my from buying it:
  • Most of the game takes place inside ships and industrial-like buildings which makes the environments astonishingly boring (And the map design seems pretty stupidly thrown together with the places to advance forward being poorly lit while useless decorations have so many spotlights on top of them that you may even think they are storing some sort of secret); and
  • The game being stupidly short once you take out the 4+ hours of cringe-worthy cutscenes. I would say without cutscenes the game is about 3 to 4 hours long which does not justify the absurd price tag for me when I can get something that will last me longer like XCOM 2 with the same money.

That said, shooting looks fun, so if you're after that and after that only go for it. Who knows, if you're good enough and clear the game without watching any cutscene you may be able to complete it under 2 hours and fill in a steam refund without losing any cash. Or maybe you can make a full playthorugh and still get a refund because apparently the game is choke-full of glitches and crashes that refunds can still happen after 4 hours of playing according to steam reviews.

Ah, I had those confused. Anywho, I've decided against Wolfenstein for now and decided to grab Hollow Knight. I haven't gotten a chance to play it. But the Trailer reminded.me of Guacamelee, but it looked harder, so I was interested. I also got a year of Switch Online, a lot of people have been complaining, but I'm gonna need it for Diablo 3 anyway and personally, I like most of the classics that were included. I would rather see SNES stufft though.

Well, hopefully you'll enjoy it at least half as much as I did. It was the best game I've played this year. Either that or Factorio, but factorio isn't a crafted experience like Hollow Knight.

It's confusing and can be hard (starting to get the hang of pogoing), but not in a frustrating or unfair way. So, I think it's pretty great so far, reminds me of The Binding of Isaac.

If you've played New Order... well, it's more of that, but with longer cutscenes. Overall I did enjoy it quite a bit but then I'll be the first to admit that I really liked New Order.
