So which do you use? Android phones? iPhones? Some dirty flip phone that probably lives longer in battery life than 3 other smart phones combined?

Also, just because you use one type doesn't mean you don't think the other is superior for another reason or situation. Discuss your thoughts now!

I'm going to say Android since they seem to screw up far less often. The half of my family that complains about their phones the most is the half that use iphones. True, this is a small sample size, thus not truly valid as an observation that I can take stock into, but I have been mostly happy with my phones, whereas my sister has an iphone that seems to not be able to connect to calls or text messages half the time.

I don't really use a smartphone. Only have an old HTC one for the camera basically.

My phone of choice is an old samsung dumbphone. Would have been a nokia still, if the charging cable wasn't faulty.

Since iOS is mac, it's out by default. Can't stand macs.
Android it is then.

There was another smartphone OS that functioned similar to windows..
Can't remember its name though....Symbian?
That would ultimately be my top pick.

Fuck Apple. That may sound overly simplistic but the only thing I've seen Apple actually contribute to the tech world was the smartphone. And even then, I think Blackberry kind of did it first.

To me, iOS is like a Fisher price toy by comparison. It does all the basic functions, but it is artificially limited by the manufacturer to prevent it from being the computer in your pocket that it actually is.

Pokemon go has a 3rd party companion app that can give you all sorts of extra info about the pokemon you caught, and since PoGo blocked its API from 3rd party use, it works by using screen capture and ocr to figure out what your pokemon is. IOS on the other hand does not allow screen capture features. The user has to take screenshots and load them into the app. On top of that, because of how the app store locks down the devices, you will never get a iPhone to play emulators without jailbreaking. Android, even if Google blocked emulators from the play store, still allows you to install .apk files at your own risk.

Android. I have an iPhone 7 right now and can't wait for our contract to expire so I can get rid of this POS and go back to a Galazy.

I use both, but its hard to say which i prefer. I like the size of my iphone 5 since it fits nicely in my hand and pocket but i don't like the lack of customization for it. My galaxy s5 on the other hand has a nice amount of customization, but i don't like the size, i feel its just a little too large for my hands. I'm not too worried about app support since i basically only use my phone to text and receive calls.

Android. My wife talked me into an iPhone last time we upgraded. I can't wait for this contract to run out so I can go back to a Galaxy.

Symbian and BlackBerry 10 (Beaten to the joke)

I say android, apple is waaaay too fucking restrictive and limited when it comes to peripherals and expansions. While I still don't think neither even come close to replacing the functionalities of a computer (Which is why I find android and apple tablets stupid) I think android is the one that gets the closest.

iOS is more user-friendly, android has more features

I've always stuck with android because I can do more on it without software mods, but Google's takeover and subsequent revelations about data privacy have me genuinely considering a switch to iphone even though I can't stand the culture and cost around apple products

More than likely I'll just not even have a phone once I move out on my own, I never talk to anyone anyway other than on the internet, and I can do that at home without the extra $80 per month I spend to keep my phone on

But why?

Do you have one of those plans with the latest flagship phone included in it?

I'm out 16 a month and I have 2GB and 100 minutes of call time.

Nah, it's just all unlimited. I thought that was low for a totally unlimited phone bill. Quite a few people i know are over 100

Some of those are "have to have the newest most expensive phone" types but not all of them

A guy had problem while listening music on Android, so he decided to make a hardware fix. The justification:

Although Android is Free Software, meaning I can modify the code, it would probably take me months to learn enough about music decoding and the Android-media-player-service to write a fix.

His reason not to use Apple:

APPLE IS A SYMBOL OF PRETENTIOUSNESS AND IGNORANCE - YOU DO NOT EVEN KNOW HOW YOUR PHONE WORKS - I DO NOT HAVE TO PAY A TAX TO APPLE TO LISTEN TO MY MUSIC.
