A majority of my strikes came from criticizing the mods in the mod chat-room. They consider themselves to be perfect, irreproachable. Any criticism is insubordination and must be dealt with harshly. I even got a strike for reporting another mod's rule-breaking behavior to a different mod through PM.


When I spoke up about the incident I mentioned earlier, they said "PM the community manager about it!" I did, and received no reply for over 30 days. I kept on making noise until the community manager appeared in the chat room for an unrelated reason, and then when I made noise at him, he finally replied to my PMs with an insult calling me insecure.


Great site, really. Can't imagine why it went the way it did.

From an outside perspective, it's really dumb that you'd put so much effort into reporting something, because it kinda makes you look bad by "overreacting" about some forum drama. I think the community suffers when you have a community of people that do that kind of thing regularly over any infraction.

That said, if overreacting is the only way to get the rules to be respected, then the CM built that community intentionally, and now look at what the site is because of it. You did the right thing but that still wasn't good enough for the CM.

Yeah, I understand that it looks that way. I tell myself that the reason I went through all that effort, and chose that hill to die on, was because I truly cared about the site. I truly wanted it to thrive.

Most of all, I only beat that drum for as long as I did because nobody was acknowledging what I and many others were saying. I finally stopped beating that drum when I got a response from the CM's boss, Archon. That's all I really wanted. Somebody to say "Thanks for your suggestion. We'll consider it."

And then the Wild West appeared. Now I'm not saying I'm directly responsible, but...

I certainly didn't stay in topic, and took the opportunity to harass a user.

I don't think it's fair to smack the other user or users that are just responding to a derail, even if it's ill-advised.

Hell, a ton of people used to complain on the Escapist where they were just reacting to a bunch of provocation and they got smacked for it.

that is the defacto definition of derailing a thread and a violashun of de rulze.

that idiot literally admitted to violating several of de rulze.

since youre an idiot, ill explain what youre doing. its called 'selective enforcement' and in both civil and criminal court...as well as all certified arbitration hearings...is an admissible defense.

since youre an idiot and cant grasp basic concepts ill simplify it. meaning. youre fucking up. screwing the pooch. torpedoing the turkey in the tailpipe.
