Don't worry. This is like the modern military shooter trend of last decade. It'll stop once people inevitably get tired of it.

This trend is worse, because it's adaptable to nearly any game where you directly control a character. Just stick a large number of players into a large area, and you've got yourself a royale with cheese!

The DayZ trend was like that too. Just add crafting and zombies to any open world game.

The military shooter was a bit different, as it was, itself, a genre. You can't just make a military shooter out of anything, you have to actually make a shooter from scratch. This is worse. ANY genre can catch the Royale virus. You can add it as DLC.

True, but allow me to lend a machete to your intellectual thicket.

Who cares? AAA publishers have been shooting themselves in the foot for the last year now and they've pretty much given every indication that they're no longer interested in making quality experiences anymore. Fine. Guess it's time for the AA and A industries to rise.

Hey at least if they keep Titanfall movement mechanics the agility of the characters are going to make it somewhat different from the competition and it has to have giant robots now, which is always good, of course I say this as someone that has never bothered to play a Battle Royale and I don't particularly care which is the game that is currently trending since I mostly play retro games and indie games, plus I'm still busy playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker which is honestly just OK, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

Titanfall getting Battle Royale?

So now its like Mechwarrior?
No, it needs laser wagons before that happens.

Try Divinity: Original Sin 2 next. It does make you manage a party (UGH), but it does make up for it by everything else.

I like Party Management so that's fine, I'll take a look at it certainly, since I've heard so many good things about it.

To be honest the main reason I chose Pathfinder Kingmaker was because I've played the actual Tabletop game and I actually quite like it, I prefer it's complexity and versatility for character building a lot more than I do D&D 5E's simplicity and I kinda wanted to revisit it but running it as a DM seems like a royal pain in the ass with the players that I have, plus we're playing Legend of the 5 Rings 4E right now and that seems like a good rest for D&D 5E, afterwards I'm Running a Call of Cthulu 7E short campaign, then we go back to D&D 5E but it's going to be run simultaneously in alternating weekends with an Alternity campaign set in the 60s, which makes me pretty happy since I like switching up systems quite a lot, people are still not on board with my Burning Wheel campaign but I'm hoping me running a full CoC 7E campaign and playing so many different systems in quick succesion opens them up to the idea of playing a more obscure ruleset that like quite a lot, plus someone already convinced them of playing Alternity which is way more obscure than Burning Wheel I think, if only because it's old and never received much support, granted neither did Burning Wheel and it is an independent release rather than a TSR production but at least it's from this decade.

D&D 3.5E and, by extension, Pathfinder lends itself VERY well to a computer format. Normally it's a huge pain in the ass running it tabletop due to all the modifiers and rolls and effects you're required to keep track of (which 5E fixed pretty admirably), but when run through a computer, the computer now can quickly do all the boring grunt work and stats checking for you, leaving only the good things that such a complicated ruleset can offer.

But that's the big problem though. There isn't really any game besides maybe Neverwinter Nights and, just now, Pathfinder: Kingmaker that actually runs 3.5E or a variant of it. Neverwinter Nights 2 DOES use 3.5E I suppose, but I think it's a more limited version of it, and it's death by a thousand cuts there anyway. Neverwinter Nights runs 3E pure, so I don't know if you could really count that.

At the end of the day, I hope they open up the Pathfinder cRPG for multiplayer, but last time they were asked about it on Reddit, they gave a hard 'no'. :( Oh, and speaking of which, ever tried Eclipse Phase?

Well there's also Returm of Elemental Evil, but my PC has trouble running that, as for Pathfinder, as far as D&D 3.5 goes I've actually never played it since I started on D&D 5E, though I've read plenty of books for both AD&D & 3.5 and I've always been a fan of the CRPGs, I'm actually the only person in my group that's played Planescape Torment which is surprising, which reminds me that Chris Avellone is writing one of the expansion modules for Pathfinder Kingmaker, which I find exciting because I really enjoyed Planescape & KOTOR II, never played Mask of the Betrayer but I do own it, I probably should give it a go in the meantime,

But anyway if you want a solid adaption of 3.5 I'd recommend Elemental Evil, but be careful the RNG on that game is absolutely savage, it's very possible to receive crits from low level monsters and be absolutely decimated.

To be honest I've never heard of that game before, however I do enjoy Cyberpunk quite a bit and it seems to have that feeling, if the group likes how I DM (I know at least 2 people do) I may try to do a Cyberpunk campaign and I'll review the game then, however the group I play with seems to be very science fiction averse so I am unsure that I would manage to convince them, odd really, because I do tend to prefer science fiction over fantasy, maybe it would be easier with a mix such as Starfinder or Star Wars than just straight up Sci-Fi

I actually don't know how good it is either. It was highly recommended to me by an old friend of mine. Who is no longer my friend... Ahem, anyway though. Yeah, let me know how it is if you ever run it.
