Suggestion: Visit the Forums of Forums

Even if you are not using forum package X, Y or Z, checking their meta forums (where the developers and users meet) may still be helpful.

Example: Discourse's meta forum has a section to talk about "community building" and it may have great and relevant content, even if you are using another software.

There's a lot to comb through and we're just starting our advertising again. But yeah, it has definitely crossed my mind and it's a good suggestion.
