Thanks. I think I am going to run this without a background and on the next campaign I consult the DM to make a custom one.
Sure, whatever floats your boat all I'll say is that I would not recommend it, the game isn't all combat and most skills allow you to do stuff outside of combat so I wouldn't recommend turning down skills in a class that gets very few skills to begin with, still it's your character so that's up to you.

Right now I'm just trying to get everyone comfortable and situated into the damn game. lol There's a whole fuckton of options here for players to read about and to use, and we're just using 5E too, hence my very loose attitude at the moment.

I have already sort of made one, back in the previous attempt. I've just been dragging my feet porting it to OrcHub..I'm working all nights now, and today was required to work the day as well..23 hour shift..and back again for another 11 tonight.

I'm not liking Orcpub , I managed to make my character but the Orcpub version did not grant me 2 of the 7 skills & didn't grant me 2 of the 5 languages I should have gotten, not to mention that I get Double Profficiency on those 2 skills, which is something that I can't get it to do even if I manually add those skills and languages and make the program say that I'm cheating because I have too many profficiencies despite the fact that my character is so legal it can be used for Adventurer's League just like I designed it to be.

That does seem weird. Especially for a supposedly big D&D friendly site. Oh well, might work for baby's Orc's first D&D session?
Making it as easy as possible, mostly means cutting down on the variables and streamlining it. Is there any reason you see that this wouldn't make it a good gateway into D&D?

Well I do get that when people go for double profficiency builds & tons of skills they generally go for Bard or Rogue not Cleric and perhaps due to the obscurity of this being relegated to a specific Cleric archetype that is kind off uninteresting within Combat but really good outside of it that they didn't bother programming that crap in, but that archetype turns Cleric into a skill monkey with a specific inclination to INT based skills (Reason I bothered to get pretty much all of them).

As far as advantages to Orcpub, it saves you the hassle of having to read a lot of the book and helps you auto-calculating most of the formula's you need to get playing, which is useful for not having to explain a lot of stuff to new players, if I'm honest I do not see this as particularly positive since the game uses extremely basic and simple Math so the most complex thing for players to learn are the mechanics, and let's be fair here, anyone that has played any RPG from JRPGs to ARPGs and so on will be able to grasp it even if it takes a little bit of time, basically I think it's counter-productive since players will have to learn the mechanics anyway because of issues like not getting all of my skills.

In any case I think if what we really wanted to do was to introduce people to RPGs but didn't want to bother with the complexity of it rather than streamlining an already streamlined version of D&D it might have been wiser to start in a simpler and less complex RPG such as one using the ridiculously simple Cypher system like Numenéra and then moving on to D&D 5E once people get the grasp of the RPG that is played exclusively with 1 D20 and one extremely rarely used D6.

But alas perhaps my opinion of it is just that way, because I've read way too many RPGs, and even when I started I had already read the PHB in full and even some of the DMG, probably my fault because I'm just very mechanically minded, which is odd because despite the huge amounts of time I spend cheesing the mechanics I always end up ignoring most of it and just role-playing, like one of my favorite characters that I've played was a very powerful Warlock which was completely built for combat, but despite that he only participated in 2 fights during a 6 month long campaign, and there were fights almost every session.

Neutral Good, Criminal. Is that possible?
You can be Lawful Good and have the criminal background if you want, also it's up to the player but background isn't necessarily what you are right now, it could be what you used to be before being an adventurer and you can have a character that has a conflict with their background as much as you can have one that has a very good synergy with it.

He's supposed to be ambiguous with larger grey areas. He'd steal your gold and take off, he wouldn't also kill you or take vital survival tools leaving you for dead.

This is a test run though, contradicting a character's usual behavior and origin for the hell of it is fun in this case imo. Like straight up making an orc paladin that relies exclusively on charisma to get through the whole game.
