Assuming this is true, I guess it's finally time to mod my ps3.
I'm not really surprised if they actually do this honestly. Physical stores have been gradually reducing ps3 stock here, to the point where the only games where in half of a discount bin at my local store. I guess my continual hording of physical copies will finally pay off now

I saw this. Yeah, while I think the rumor is true, I also don't think Sony would have the balls to do this in the end. But I've seen more screwed up things, so who knows. Closing the stores down will bring a wave of bad press at best, and an avalanche of lawsuits at worst if they try to take down ALL downloads for the software as well.

Honestly? I hope they take the servers down because this debate about ownership in the digital age is long LONGGGG overdue. If these companies keep wanting to push everything solely onto the internet, then they should be forced to keep the files up forever. No more of this "You will own nothing and be happy about it" bullshit. Needs to stop right now.

The only physical games I still own for any any of those systems are just PS3 titles.
3D Dot Game Heroes, Warhawk and Dead Island.
Gave the rest away.

Digital only titles go RIP but are probably archived on the net. I just hope they got the updates/patches too.
All those systems are mod/hackable to play any game off the respective system.
This fuck in the video keeps going on and on about emulation as if thats the only answer ya got.
The Vita has no emulator last I checked.

Disk locked content is a weird area. This would make it so modding your system is necessary to ever access is again in the future.
Magneto's King of Spain costume in MvC3 was removed as a DLC but the content is still on the disc. Using a hex editor lets you access it.

I wish it was clearer what DLC was just unlocking on disk content versus an actual addition of content. Shady practice that should of been outlawed aside, archiving efforts would greatly benefit from the distinction.

Who said these people even had Sony's permission? Sony probably didn't even know.
i somehow doubt sony cares about demos, prototypes etc of ps2 era games that are no longer making them money.
