Really Starting to Detest Upvote/Downvote Systems...

Every fucking day I go onto Imgur/Reddit, because that's where most all of the discussion is these days, but the systems suck so much fucking ass. It doesn't encourage discussion at all and, in fact, sometimes actively hinders it.

Fuck me. Sanctuary will NEVER have a reputation system of any kind.

And even the World of Warcraft forum went as far as removing the downvote option to encourage the people who disagree to actually say their grievence.

Getting rid of downvoting is good, but it still doesn't completely solve the problem. They should preferably not even be there. They add nothing. It's just a super quick and dirty way for sites to sort content. That's all it's ever been good at. Anything else? Forget it.

They kind of do in part, but that only applies to their Disqus comments.

Glad to see you've changed your mind on this. The thanks system over at you know where pretty much prevents any meaningful discussion. It's pretty disheartening to post a two or three page thread on something that interests you, only to have the first reply be "but what does this have to do with Mike Pence?" or "faggot" as the first response and get a bunch of thanks

That said though, it is a lot of fun getting drunk and going to one of the reddit "news" subs and see how many downvotes you can get in an hour or two
