I consider gaming to be more of a shared interest than a forum focus. look at the Escapist. the best conversations there were not about games and playing games, but everything else.I dunno about the gaming to be honest, maybe everyone in that other thread agreed thats a focus? I didn't check.
But my two cents is that its just so random and cringy. Makes me gag a bit. "I believe in freedom of information and technology, and I'm also a GAMER!!!" Its like something you'd find on a 12 year olds facebook page. Idk.
The reason why I wanted to keep freedom into the subtitles was so newcomers would understand right when they first come here that they're free to discuss whatever they desire. Say what they desire. Within very reasonable limits, but still, limits that are far looser than many other sites. Unfortunately, it seems like it's almost impossible to get that across in a subtitle without sounding at least a little bit cheesy...I consider gaming to be more of a shared interest than a forum focus. look at the Escapist. the best conversations there were not about games and playing games, but everything else. I was part of a filesharing forum years ago, and you know what we didn't talk about? Filesharing. we just used our kazaas, Napsters, and Bittorrents and spent our time talking about everything else.
Same should go for here. we are gamers, we like freedom, we welcome anyone that is civil here for maximum free speech. We dont need to talk about it constantly, but it's our common interests.
But I don't consider myself a gamer anymore than I consider myself, say, a bike rider or a music listener or a gym bro/sportsperson/whatever. To me gaming is a shitty thing to make a core part of your identity.I consider gaming to be more of a shared interest than a forum focus. look at the Escapist. the best conversations there were not about games and playing games, but everything else. Two things then. But I don't consider myself a gamer anymore than I consider myself, say, a bike rider or a music listener or a gym bro/sportsperson/whatever. To me gaming is a shitty thing to make a core part of your identity.
Its whatever, thats just my hot take.
