JoyCons...they kinda suck

Not gonna lie, I've been a bit of a Nintendo Fanboy this Gen, I think the 'Switch is conceptually great, it's what the Wii U should have been. I am perfectly conent with it largely being a Nintendo/Indies/Ports Console and ultimately feel that if Nintendo move forward the same way, essentially making a Switch 2, I'll probably go for that too.

But boy am I disappointed with the JoyCons. I'm on my second set, both of which have developed problems with the Analog Sticks. The same thing happened with my Brothers JoyCons and a friend of ours as well. In all cases the problems started a only a few months of moderate use. I kinda expected more from the Company that has made Handheld Gaming devices that have survived bombing runs and the cold of Everest. Add the hefty price on top of that and cumbersome and incompetent technical support (sent in Joy Cons, one of them they must have tested the stick for all of 5 seconds, deciding it didn't need to be replaced because it was only showing early jitters and they seem to have not noticed). That nobody talks about it only adds insult to injury. So, to anyone here who has a Switch (I'm not entirely alone, right?), have you had similar issues? Did you too expect better? Do you know of any viable third party products?

My problem with my Joycons is that they are a little too much jack-of-all-trades, in that they need to be so many things all at once that they are kinda shit at just being a really good controller. I've had my switch since November and I haven't had any functional issues with them yet though. Still, I can appreciate what they do, and I think they are being the best they can be. I have a pro controller if I really need them to be more.

What's the latency on the controllers? I tried playing Smash once, and noticed a considerable delay that threw off my game. I'd have much rather played with the classic gamecube controller, as is tradition.

Is it like that all the time? I don't think I would be able to stand it.

Way better than Wavebirds, that's for sure. Most of the time, I can't find a hint of latency. But every now and then...

I did hear that SSBU seems to have slight issues with control latency. Did you try a wired Gamecube style controller?

Hmm, I actually haven't played Smash in a while, so I don't recall. Minor perhaps? Certainly not anything that took me out of the Game too much or I'd surely remember. Though it should be said, I only play it SP and with Friends locally, I'm not interested in the online fighter scene as I have no natural talent in that partticular genre.
