Media Player Classic - Black Edition. Though I imagine the regular MPC should work just fine as well.

For getting new music, look for it on Youtube then convert it and download the song using this site: https://ytmp3.cc/

You could always try the old classic WinAMP?

I really don't listen to music through dedicated players, I just have a YouTube playlist open that cycles through songs I enjoy.

I use KMPlayer for listening to music. Though it doesn't play nice at all with VLC.
Then again, why listen to music when you play a movie or the other way around??

I haven't bought a CD since 1999 though I was gifted several Trance 200X editions .
Most of my music I got from friends, which in turn got them from kazaa.
I've heard that finding and getting music today involves youtube and changing www.youtube to hooktube.

I use winamp v2.8.0.0 as it uses the least amount of memory of all the players I've tried

As for obtaining music I usually go dumpster diving on bandcamp and use a userscript to download the tracks I like at 128kbps

What specifically about itunes did you get fed up with?

Unrelated, but welcome to the forums, Gauche! Please make a topic if you need anything. :)

This is what I was wondering. I've used iTunes for a long time and never had any issues

I usually buy any CDs I like, but that's just because I'm a case whore who likes to pointlessly display a large CD collection. That and nobody has ever heard of anything I listen to so I figure the bands could use the support

A hard drive + VLC.

Never understood why you'd need anything else
In my case it's to listen to music at work. If you get caught with any device with a camera you get a lovely interrogation that I would prefer not to deal with, but non-camera-equipped ipods are allowed

Oh shit wait, we're talking portable music players now? I'm confused.

That's what I use iTunes for

AFAIK you can't put music on any apple product any other way
