Imagine this idea for a Sci Fi story?

You are all aware that one aspect of Science Fiction stories we see is the idea of making robot constructs that look so human that its almost indistinguishable from the real thing, hence androids or replicants in like in Blade Runner.

But has this ever been considered when it comes to androids? What if someone makes an android out of a completely historical figure?

Like you think with such things why no one has conisdered doing it? Imagine if someone accurately recreates say Abraham Lincoln himself as an Android?

Infact would this be seen as a way to "revive" people from the dead?

What do you think? And has such an idea been attempted in fiction already I mean know about the idea of cloning, but making an android out of a long dead person is something else imo.

Personally I think it's a pretty dumb idea, as all you're doing is creating an AI that's programmed to respond in ways that we think come close to what the actual dead person would say.

I could see it working if the people around it don't know that the android is an android, only for it to be revealed later. But when everyone around it knows that it's just an AI responding as if it were a certain person, then I think it's pretty dumb.

Come to think of it, there's this show on Netflix that deals with certain aspects of Technology in our modern day lives and there was this one episode where there was a start up that created an AI that would scan messages from a dead person's cellphone and people would then be able to chat with this AI / Chat bot as if they were chatting with their deceased friend. Although I liked the technique behind the bot, I think that it's a pretty dumb thing to do, rather than having people cope with the loss of a person, they're just living in denial.

For the life of me I can't think of the show's name.

I don't think you'd be completely reviving someone from the dead. Sure they'd look like the person, but would they think the same? If its someone recent then you could possibly upload/convert their brain to an AI, and then load that into the android shell. But if its someone historical, like Lincoln, where would you get the brain?

Yeah I made this thread fully aware of that show.

But in this case they are replicants, not fully biological clones.

And of course they actually do act like themselves rather then a parody like Joan of Ark, a devout Christian Catholic, becoming an Emo Goth.
