We all know YouTube on desktop sucks.
We all know YouTube on mobile sucks.
But what if i told you there was an even more unusable version.
YouTube on PSVR.
If you have a ps4 and have the YouTube app installed, you get two options when opening.
Default
PS VR
At a glance they're the same. Same UI, same useless search that's somehow even more useless than the web version, same ads, etc.
Except you've now got it in a smaller window in front of you. I need to add, that you can use the default version in vr, it just won't work for 360/vr videos. It just puts the video in a floating void, which is tolerable.
And, somehow, the VR version manages to run like absolute shit. I'm talking potato levels of performance.
Videos struggle to load. If they load the picture will freeze, but the videos will continue to play. Sometimes it becomes unresponsive for no reason other than it decided to. If you skip forward/backwards it'll become unresponsive. If you're watching a video, then decide to go back to search results, it'll become unresponsive
The search feature is somehow even more useless, because it will give you maybe a dozen videos that match your search, another dozen for a related search, then an endless amount of shorts. There's no option to specify videos or shorts either, so if its not the first result, good luck trying to find it.
The default version, however, runs perfectly fine. Just the VR version sucks like absolute shit.
