Greetings!

Be it games or forums or whatever, I always go through settings and options first. Duh. ,)
As it so happens though, there are some things in there that could need some clarifications and help with.
Lets start with a simple question.

I'm guessing the 'Personal Text' in the 'Profile - Forum Profile' is akin to the usual Biography spiel?

Time settings, adjusting time zone with hours, in 'Profile - Look and Layout' doesn't seem to work for me.
It stays 3 hours behind whatever number I put in. Auto detect is able to find the right number, but to no avail.
On the upside though, Finally, I can get rid of those pesky AM/PM thingies.. YYYY-MM-DD & HH:MM:SS is king!

Am I reading the settings correctly in 'Profile - Notifications', in that I can't simply get a notification every time some replies to me??

Personal text will show up at the bottom of your post count. Don't write a book in it. lol

I never really tried messing around with time settings honestly. I'll look into it more for you.

You will get a notification every time a thread you requested notification of receives a post or reply you haven't read. Once you've gone into the thread, it will be marked as read and it will update you again if it receives any further replies.

Yeah, the time offset is working for me. Are you sure you're applying your settings by clicking the "Change profile" button on the bottom right corner? Also keep in mind, the "Current Forum Time" does not change according to your settings. It is merely there to tell you the current server time so you have an easier time adjusting it.

Ah, I see it now. Understood. I've already written a suitable short one.

Hmm.. I saw that the posts themselves show the correct time, but not the settings. Weird. Livable, but Weird!

So that's a no then. I always check each and every interesting thread for new posts anyway, so I probably wont miss anything.

Thanks for the reply. My reason for the delay was that I had to stop in the middle and chase out a wasp.
I hate wasps. Not a fan of bees either. Bumblebees I can stand..but not ON! ,)

I'm pretty sure the forum has the functionality you're talking about, but I don't quite understand what it is you're looking for.

Just the usual notification on a personal reply. Not a general thread one.
I think it might be the 'show new replies to your posts' below this site's greeting to me.
I haven't seen if it works yet. I just refresh the page and see that sub-forum has received a new reply.

I never used the newest post box thingie on the Escapist either.
I usually go on, look at the dates on the sub-forums, open those, then do the same for threads. ^^

If it turns out the functionality isn't there, there's probably a mod for it honestly that will do just that.

I almost missed it this time too, but I stopped myself before the last click.

"New replies...your posts", seems to work.

Well then, I think all my questions have been sorted. Thanks!

Quick question then, where can we find the Time Settings? I was looking under Account Settings, as I'd expect it there, but it isn't there and I can't seem to find it anyplace else.

I'm going to attempt to answer this, and hopefully get it right. Or be corrected. ,)
Using the default look and layout mode..

At the top of the site, there is a list of red links. "Home, help, etc".
Go to "Profile", hold and wait for dropdown list, then click "Account Settings".
In "Account Settings", hold over red "Modify Profile" for dropdown list and go to "Look and Layout".
There you will find what you are looking for.

Need some more help with Account settings!

Could anyone explain what 'Notifications' is all about?

Also, how do I stop the replies being sent to my email?

Profile > Modify profile > Personal Messaging > Notify by email every time you receive a personal message > Never

For topics and boards I've requested notification on, notify me of: Nothing at all.

That controls your email notifications. Notifications are explained at the top of the profile settings page.

Profile > Modify profile > Personal Messaging > Notify by email every time you receive a personal message > Never
Thanks, but that but was already set to never, and only applied to PM's.
It seems the problem was:

Thanks. That will hopefully help.
I still don't find the explanation for Notifications anywhere.
I thought it had something to do with being PM'd about quoted replies, but I've yet to receive a a PM.
My email inbox was however filled with 200 mails about replies, yet nowhere do Notifications mention mail.
