Saw a recommendation for this movie when looking at some firearm forum threads. Decided to give it a shot. To be quite honest, I'm not sure how to rate this. If you just wanted a dumb action-packed movie with Jean-Claude throwing roundhouse kicks everywhere along with that signature slow-motion gun porn of John Woo, this is definitely your 5-star movie. But if you're expecting more than that, well... Prepare for disappointment. Many of the characters are bland or badly acted. The story is... It could have been really good if the written dialogue wasn't bad, but it is. So the story takes a plunge with it. The action itself is... It's like the junk food of the action movie world. It looks really great and amazing... If you don't use your brain for more than five seconds.
But perhaps that's what this all comes down to in the end I suppose. Expectations. Like some other movies I've reviewed on this site, you need to keep them in check. If you do, you'll have an amazing time with this film. And I do have to say this as well. The dialogue/acting is in so-bad-it's-good territory so you can definitely get some laughs out of that too while you're busy enjoying the dumb but fun action.
