Genetically engineered pig rape - a sound guy was employed to make those 20-30 seconds of squeals
I went into it seeing a girl and a big CGI animal on a poster and got animal rights movie with rape - must suck for parents falling for that bait
Will say I don't care much about slaughterhouses and their treatment of animals but the movie pitches the girl and pig as family. An animal rights activist purposely mistranslates the girls intention of wanting to return home with the pig and instead tells the activist group she agrees to follow through with the plan of letting the pig go to the "laboratory" to record video of abuse. This guy just deceived this girl into letting her pig/sister get raped. The guy can't even claim ignorance as the group suspect the genetic pig rapery. This has to be the most evil human action I've seen in a movie and I own Hobo with a Shotgun. The worst part of all this is that at the end of the movie the recorded video does nothing to stop the population from eating the genetic meat so the rape was literally for nothing but a bad PR day

Most of the human bad guys had ANNOYING AS FUCK voices
Like I can't emphasize it enough, I wanted to strangle the fuck out of the actor who was employed to voice an annoying underfunded cartoon villain just for subjecting me to his vocals

I've seen it come up a few times in the "weird movies" lists I find myself trawling through on Mubi, Letterboxd and IMDB these days, but I always figured "that sounds too weird even for my current tastes"... seems I wasn't wrong in that assessment.

pig/sister?

Biological or adoptive?
Sister from another mother, adoptive
No human gene splicing here

I forgot to mention the pig saves the girls life at the beginning
Not that it really matters but its like people suck or something

Whoever genuinely recommends this or listicles it has issues
Like it makes some jabs at life but nah man, skip

Mad God
Dunno, I really liked the first act, like 69/10 stuff, but then the rest was really boring and I found that only the final bit really added to the movie
The rest was rather insignificant wank all in all, some cool wank but wank nonetheless
I probably missed the wankier biblical context of it all but I'm not gonna lose sleep over it
He Mad Wanking

I keep forgetting to update this, but here's a bunch of stuff i've watched lately

Shutter Island
Psych patient thinks hes a US marshall. Turns out hes just insane. Was a pretty good film. Plot twist at the end that was kinda hinted at throughout the film was interesting. Is it better to live as a monster, or die a good man? Who knows..

10 Cloverfield Lane
How this ties into the rest of the cloverfield series is beyond me. Was just kinda alright, albeit rather forgettable.

Memoirs of a Geisha
Thought this was based on the geisha memoir book I have, turns out its not. It's about a fictional geisha instead. Basically just a biography of a fictional geisha and how she became the best geisha in Gion. Was surprisingly good. Made me want to learn more about geishas. Would recommend it.

In Time
what if, instead of money, we payed with our lifes time. I'm sure there's some deep analogy about how capitalism is bad, and rich people only care keeping the poor, poor, but i'm not going to go looking for it. It was a decentish "sci-fi" (very lite on the sci-fi though. Unless you count the electric cars, which aren't really sci-fi these days) take on robin hood, except that the rich also live longer than the poor. Biggest weakness of the film is Justin Timberlakes' acting, it seemed very stiff which didn't make his character all that compelling

The Social Network
Facebook is a shit company, but this is a pretty good portrayal of zuck and the early days of facebook, before it became the data harvester it is now. Coincidentally, this film also stars Justin Timberlake, but his acting isn't actually stiff this time. Was pretty good

The Terminal
Tom Hanks gets stuck in an airport
Viktor (played by tom hanks) gets stuck in an aiport because he cant enter the US, nor can he return to his home country due to a war. Pretty good in the first 2/3rds of the film, falls off in the last third after the war in whatever-stan ends and Viktor can leave the airport. Frank Dixon (guy in charge of the airport) is an unneccesary dick to viktor. Despite the last third just not being as good as the rest, It's still an overall pretty good movie.

Catch Me If You Can
Tom Hanks is no longer stuck in an airport
Frank Abagnale (played by dicaprio), a con man, is playing a very complicated game of hide n' seek with Carl Hanratty, an FBI agent (played by hanks). This is a really good film. Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hanks both do great jobs at their respective characters. Would definitely recommend it.

Saving Private Ryan
Tom Hanks is now stuck in europe, during ww2
It's Saving Private Ryan. Everyone knows Saving Private Ryan. Great war film, would also definitely recommend it.

Tropic Thunder
Its fine. It has its moments of humour, but is otherwise mostly forgettable, which is why I don't have much to say about it.

The Wolf Of Wall Street
Also just kinda forgettable. There's only so many times a sex or drug joke can be funny before it starts wearing thin. I liked Margot Robbie's character and that was about it.

Beverly Hills Cop
Didn't find this movie all that good. Eddie Murphy is a good comedian, but I just didn't find this film all that entertaining, aside from when he sent room service to the cops that were supposed to be watching him. That was funny, but the rest of the film was forgettable frankly.

Some people would say those are fighting words. I do know a lot of famous actors have faved this film as it's such a funny and good portrayal of Hollywood and acting in general. Like Zoolander for actors.

I've never heard of it. What makes it a great war film? Pray tell.

I don't get why they don't implement the quarter reward upon returning the carts at grocery stores. Seeing them be left in parking spots bugs me. I guess there would be more bums hanging around though. They should also give you quarters to not give the bums money. Anti-solicit credits.
The 50/50 scene logic sticks with me to this day. It was the OG "60% of the Time, It Works Every Time". I'm sure there is something similar fumbling chance that predates it but its where I came across it first

Is it better to live as a monster, or die a good man?
Neither and then both.

Guess I might as well add my contribution of the weird, pretentious and boring films no one has ever heard of I've been watching lately:

フリック / Flic (2005)

A police detective who has been sleepwalking his way through life, away from the job since the death of his wife, is called back by his partner to go to Hokkaido and fetch a family member to claim the body of a murder victim.

For the first hour or so I was slightly disappointed that, while good, it didn't seem very weird at all... and then the rest of the movie happened. God damn.

This is exactly what I want out of my films these days. An all-around amazing piece of film-making.

Akran (1969)

Another brilliant film. Not really sure how much I can actually say about it, though, because while it does have a plot and some kind of coherence, it operates exclusively on its own brand of dream logic.

Split (1989)

Absolutely fantastic low-budget sci-fi about a cypher of a man who's being hunted by a totalitarian surveillance agency.

Friendship's Death (1987)

Same as above, really, except with less of a gleefully trashy vibe, and more of an arthouse, classy one. A war reporter meets a woman who claims to be an alien robot, sent to Earth as an ambassador from a highly advanced civilization, during the Palestinian Civil War.

Incredibly engaging, thought-provoking sci-fi, with barely any special effects to speak of... what's not to like?

Lo que Vendrá (1988)

A surprisingly stylish and glossy dystopian crime drama from Argentina, about a man who returns to Buenos Aires to find things there are not quite as he remembers.

You were right about these being obscure. Where do I get a copy of these movies to watch?

Only one I know is Lo Que Vendra, since it's from my country. You can watch it for free streaming on the National Institute of Film and Audiovisual Arts streaming platform http://cine.ar/ the problem is that the movie is in Spanish and there are no English subs, or any subs really I don't understand anything myself because I can't hear it and they don't have Spanish subs either lol.

A surprising number of them are actually on Youtube. Here are Flic (it's split in two parts, but the whole film's there), Akran, Split, and Lo que Vendrá (albeit without subtitles).

Friendship's Death I think I watched on some Russian streaming site, like ok.ru/video or vk.com.

A Man Called Otto - Otto dies at the end/Tom Hanks plays an old person movie
Dash of current age millennial-ism mixed with boomers getting fucked over by the richer non-manual labor boomers who bought and sold shit from China so capitalism is ackchyually bad m'kay

The first half sets up that Otto has 99 problems
but returning tupperware ain't one

Second half is Otto hearing voices enough times to turn issues into tissues for the targeted audience I guess
Morale: accosting strangers is okay if your white and they're white and you explain your threats whitely while having a racially inclusive cast

Sisu - Jorma Tommila plays an old fart that doesn't die at the end/Greed Plot

When you watch a movie about killing Nazis and end up not liking it you start to question your life choices. Where did it all go wrong?
Should you have raped women off screen to empathize more with the Nazi's plight? Should you have joined the military and gone AWOL to follow your dreams of highway robbery? Was ditching the truck and walking over in a wide formation after having your battles fought for you the way to go?

Then you look at the reviews and see that people didn't like it
You breath a sigh of relief

Raping women on screen was the correct choice after all
