Fuck this. I'm doing Windows 8.1 now...

So tired of these small but literally unfixable problems with Windows 10. And I'm getting these with a totally clean install. I didn't upgrade to 10 or anything. This shit is pretty inexcusable.

It is running alright here. Has been a really long time since I last made a clean install. Had a lot more issues with 8.1 back in the days.

Group Policy, precise registry fixes and silver bullets for every shortcoming: gotta be like water and adapt.
There doesn't seem to be a nice way to say this so I'll just say it. I'm probably a lot better than you are at fixing computer issues. Trust me when I say these problems are persistent as fuck. OBS lags for example, and no matter what I do, I CANNOT STOP IT. No matter what I turn on or off. It's always the same. For every single game. In any case though, I have backups in case anything goes wrong with the install or, for whatever reason, I have the same issues.

1. I honestly just gave up on OBS. Been trying on both Windows 7 and 10 with practically the same results so it has to be hardware or OBS settings. I just stick to shadowplay recording - Files are big but performance drop is incredibly neglible.

2. In most cases, performance issues with OBS are caused by the GPU being overloaded. OBS still needs some GPU usage available so that it can render the scene. It's usually fixed by limiting the frame rate of the game to a reasonable fps so it's not uncapped / enabling vsync or lowering graphics settings in the game, though depending on your setup and situation that might not be the fix. Also be sure to disable game mode in windows 10, since it will lower the priority of OBS if it is enabled.

[Rant](Not sure what is worse in these tech hubs: the useless price talk or the guy with a GT 1030 asking why GPU encoding won't work in any of the dozen programs he tried and the likes of him - asking for free tech support while refusing to read the docs.)

I got a 1050 Ti. Not the best card in the world for sure, but with old games and a 1440x900 monitor, it can pull absolutely pull its damn weight and then some. Furthermore, I checked in both the Task Manager and GPU-Z how much the card was getting used. It didn't even reach 90% load. OBS itself even says there's no issue whatsoever, but I know it's fuckin' lying.

  • Includes a fix for Game Mode that ensures the feature will no longer impact your experiences when using the industry’s top streaming and recording software.
Dunno, but could be the solution.
Too late. I'm already switched and happy now. lol

Also, game mode was disabled before as well.

Yeah, after getting used to some the UI quirks in 8.1, I prefer it over 10. The only technical problem I had with 8.1 is there was random stuttering in Terraria on my laptop while running it. Still, a SSD seems to have fixed that. 7 is getting long in the tooth, but I'm still maining it for now for as long as it works. I'm not looking forward to getting stuck on 10.

I'm using Win 8, though I would prefer Win XP. Never tried Win 7 actually.

I will be switching to Ubuntu (or similar) instead of Win 10. Fuck that shit.

As I said. Just download Classic Shell and it will fix literally all of the issues unique to 8.1 over 7.

One of the annoying ass things for example about 8.1 is the corner shit they put in that makes things irritating when you're trying to group select or drag things across the desktop with your mouse. Classic Shell has an option to just flat out disable it all. So nice...

I'd totally use XP if it was updated for more security and the ability to run all modern games/apps.
