After looking at how the extension works, I realize it doesn't actually use any site accounts to make comments to any site pages. It merely has the capability to start a thread at its own site for any web page a user would like. Interesting and definitely not malicious, so definitely don't worry about it.

Just the fact it's a free service. If you're not paying cash for it, you're giving up something else. It's just the rule of software on the internet. Gab has left me with little reason to not trust them as an entity, but I'm not going to fool myself into thinking they started up a Twitter alternative pro bono.
