TL;DW - Doogle is a search engine for Discord alts. The company who made and maintain the DoubleCounter bot are the people responsible for this travesty. Doogle can be and has been easily bypassed using a VPN and anti-fingerprinting tools. Different people who live in the same household you do but use different Discord accounts can show up as the same person on Doogle. Doogle is collecting this and making this info available so they can sell your information with a subscription service.

If you're a Discord server admin, don't ever use DoubleCounter.

I'm blocking most Third Party stuff on sites with eMatrix, by default, and definitely don't want to allow YT.. So could you also post the link itself so people can choose to use it however they see fit? (embed, main site, alternative frontend, etc).

I've seen DoubleCounter in eMatrix standard always-block-list.

Seems like there's always something shitty going on discord now.

I wonder why the US Gov hasn't cracked down on data collection like this in order to make bank off fools who create these types of services. Would be easier money.

Not quite. Taking them to court takes years and costs a LOT of money because our court system is so fucking broken.

Everything is so fucking broke now...

I'm sorry, but I still don't see the link. Just "()"

Just look at how google was preferentially treated with regards to their monoculture.. Barely a slap on the wrist.

Bro, what the fuck? That's just a simple hyperlink. Just look up No Text To Speech on YouTube for the author's page. You gotta fix your browser, man. Or maybe it's all the damn extensions. I don't know.

He probably has an extension that converts all youtube links to invidious links or something

I don't. I only have that for twitter and reddit.

It's most likely this forum software. I think I remember this happening when I tried to post simple links before. It wouldn't let me for some reason. It just turned into embeds or such.

Let me try it myself then.

text only (full) link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVgwjFPwNYA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVgwjFPwNYAInsert URL thingie (both full links):

testhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVgwjFPwNYACode thingie:
Code:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVgwjFPwNYA

Only thing that works is a partial link (remove https & www) or using a code snippet.

All full links turns into embeds (which I block).

Yeah, see it doesn't work.. It would have been after the last period, but it's not. youtube.com/watch?v=wVgwjFPwNYA

That one shows.

Confirmed XenForo's fault: https://xenforo.com/community/threads/bbcode-youtube.232081/

That post is saying that when you use the media embed feature, it strips out all of the URL except for the video ID. It then plugs that ID into embedding code that fetches the video specified to embed it into the post. Technically, as long as you know the full video ID, you can just surround it with [MEDIA=youtube][/MEDIA] and it will still embed perfectly fine. No full URL needed.

But none of that activates whatsoever if you just post a hyperlink without specifically media embedding it and nothing more. We DO have URL unfurling, but this is not the same as media embedding, and further, when I posted the link in the OP, it just showed up as the URL and wasn't "unfurled".

I would strongly suggest downloading a completely fresh install of Pale Moon and see if it's still not showing the URL. If it's still not showing it, I'll investigate some more.

Shit. I'll just block the entire "##.p-header-content" because any other way is equally as annoying. Fuck that shit.

And this has been another episode of "The man with the highly customized and particular setup complains about a self-inflicted problem"

I'm sure you browse the web with just pure vanilla chrome.. Enjoy your ads, privacy-violations, and malware.
