Could Activision Be Sued for False Advertising?

Check out this video for all the details:

Basically, the TL;DR is Activision said in a press release there would be no microtransactions in the game and, a month after the game was released, microtransactions were added.

What really sets this apart too is that there is a clearly definable moment where Activision explicitly says they wouldn't add them in, and since this is a remake, we also have a clear comparison of the differences between the two versions. One could prove in court objectively that the game was purposefully hampered with microtransactions that were never in the original version, nor does it say anywhere on the game box that the game features such microtransactions. Not even in the ESRB rating.

why does this remind me of the dungeon keeper mobile shit EA pulled a few years back.
Like jim said in one of his recent vidoes, wait till the reviews are out so people buy it, then add mictransactions afterwards so they don't effect reviews.

Does any of the product documentation state "No micotransactions ever, for realsies"? if not then I say no.
I've never taken news from a press release of a video game as a definite since the sixth gen of gaming. Games went from uneditable software on a disk to potential cup coasters past that.

Product documentation is not the only medium that counts as advertising. The press release is official media from Activision that is both advertising the product and describing what the product will be. Furthermore, the changes objectively negatively impact the product and was clearly something the company didn't have to do. This actually sounds to me almost like a textbook case of false advertising.

Official media that has nothing to do with the product documentation or its advertisements, nor does it contradict them.
Press releases are not advertisements. They're a way to promote news. No deal was struck to have their message distributed in exchange for financial compensation. Activision said some stuff to news outlets and they shared it. Any insinuation that the changes would negatively impact the product is pure speculation. Game playing folk love microtransactions last time I didn't ask them. This reads like a textbook case of how textbook cases sound like.
