The only issue with this is that Sanctuary is not... Normal. We are the only site where you can both ask for financial housing recommendations while also asking about how to make discrete bombs out of household items. As long as a post does not violate our light rules, it can be asked here, discussed here, and potentially laughed at here.
The Bastard Factory is probably the closest to us, but even then, they have very edgy trappings with no clear purpose whatsoever. Ours is to fully support the spirit of freedom of speech, critical thinking, and grant access to both orthodox and unorthodox takes and information. Modern attitudes now are that any site NEEDs to heavily moderate its users, a site NEEDS to kowtow to big corporations, and a site NEEDS to somehow filter out topics and information that are deemed bad or wrongthink.
Sanctuary does none of this. We are a fully independent site and a sort of rebel library. What we HOPE is to bring others around to our way of thinking, but honestly, a lot of us are now rather discouraged. We've had a lot of doors slammed in our faces. Partly my fault. I was never great at advertising Sanctuary. But all the same, it's really fucking hard to advertise this damn site for multiple reasons. I think once people actually get a taste of what Sanctuary really is and is about, they're fully sold, but they have to come here first for their brainwashing a friendly welcoming.
