No, that's not a typo. Yes, this is an up-to-date article. Yes, they're blaming Microsoft for not supporting a processor even fucking Windows XP would run like crap on... Well, then again, XP can run on toasters, BUT STILL. Fucking Pentium III's in 2018. The minute you launch up a modern web browser, it'd probably initiate a meltdown. Probably running on one GB of RAM too. Oh and by the way, you can buy a Pentium 4 on Ebay in very good shape for about $10-20. So worst case scenario here, you may have to spend some of your beer money to upgrade your ancient fucking relic of a computer.

All in all, look, there's legitimate things to be mad about when it comes to Microsoft. But FFS, be mad at them for the right reasons. Not because they're not supporting a processor that was made back when George Washington was president.

EDIT: I just found out the Pentium III supports only 512 MBs of RAM. Windows 7 minimum requirements clearly say you need at least a GB. This just keeps getting better.

My favorite part is this (emphasis mine):

I think us Pentium III owners (is it just me at this point? ;) are getting thrown under the bus with Windows 7 now. Which is kind of interesting, because my dual Pentium III 1.4GHz system meets the minimum requirements, and should be fully supported. On the other hand, my Ryzen 1700 isn't supported, but runs Windows 7 just fine
Win 7 runs on a processor released in 2017 and that people are likely to be using right now. Incomprehensible.

You know, there's these enthusiasts that keep their ancient 486s running MSDOS around, because there's plenty old software that is an utter bitch to get running on modern systems, even with DosBox. And I get that. An old OS on old hardware to run old software, if you want that truly authentic experience. Makes sense.

A PIII running Win 7 is ... mismatched. Maybe as a "Can you get it working" experiment, but not something you'd want for general use.

The only halfway legitimate reason I've heard to run Windows 7 on a Pentium III is companies not having the money to upgrade. But seriously now. If your business can't even afford a bunch of Pentium 4s then there's a problem.

Kind of mismatched for sure.

I do understand some enthusiasts for keeping older computers around.
Personally, I've got a 286, a 486, a Pentium MMX 133mhz and a Pentium Dual-Core 1.47ghz in my closet(s).
There was an intermediate between the MMX and the Dual-Core..But I can't remember what it was.
